I have been working at KFSHRC full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

the salary is good & the amount of annual vacation days is very good. It provides an opportunity to explore more of the world from a central location. Working with an international staff is a great experience. working in a tax-free country is a huge benefit.

    Cons

The Arabic culture can be challenging. The bureaucracy and red tape and illogical changes to rules and operating systems can be very frustrating. the amount of time it takes to complete basic paperwork is hard to take.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a huge need to streamline management. too many managers each requiring input to basic decision really slows down the process.

I have been working at KFSHRC full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The hospital is an international, multi-cultural institution with employees from arround the world. This is a very unique and personally positive experience meeting and working with so many different people from different cultures. The hospital always invests in new equipment which challenges me professionally, this too I like.

    Cons

There are too many management and supervisory levels and too little communication between different departments. This has made a nightmare of the beauracracy. There is too much emphasis on policy and proceedure and not enough on creative problem solving. I have not experience much support in professional developement and training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because an employee comes from another country does not mean that you should not continue to train him and upgrade his skills for the equipment he is responsible for.
Inter-departmental communication really needs to improve.
