Pros
a good start for your career; ok pay and management; there are some experienced people work here to learn from.
Cons
overload work if you work hard always; management meeting always takes long time to do decision; weekend work is usual.
Advice to Senior Management
treat hard working and talent engineer well instead of letting them leave; higher pay and bonus to engineer instead of to manager.
Pros
technology is interesting and pushing the envelop, talented colleague to work with, good facility and working equipment and environment, nice location
Cons
not much career growth, you have to look for yourself and balance life and work is tough since overload is common
Advice to Senior Management
coaching and mentor subordinates. appreciate employees with compensation, not just words and useless awards, communicate to employees on the direction of the company
Pros
Seems attractive NCG program, good for college graduates if you cannot find job elsewhere. Base salary seems okay if you are new graduates.
Cons
People seem overloaded and not happy. Need more activities make it employees enjoy working at KT. My personal opinion, will add more later.
Advice to Senior Management
None at this moment, manager is very knowledgeable and willing to provide training opportunities. Like any organization, there will be good/bad groups.
Pros
Exposure to some high end technology. Does provide another entry for your professional resume. Used to be "the place to be".
Cons
Long hours that are really not required, due to either shortcoming in staffing or failing to plan accordingly. Mediocre salary. Watch you back, as the only ones left are the "snakes and cut-throats" who survived the downsizing through the years. Integrity is non exisitant. Be prepared for someone to take credit for your efforts, while you get more "projects" that really go nowhere. Let's be honest, a company who had to sever all ties with thier founder, and came up on FTC charges regarding the then CEO (and his croanies, some of who are still there) stock option grants can't really be that "great place to work"? Can it?
Advice to Senior Management
Rick get a grip! 2010 plan? Really? You have not accomplished any of the goals that you set out to accomplish with your plan. Maybe 2010 was the employee population you went for instead of making them profitable by 2010... Congratulations in taking a company that had basically no history of debt and lock stepping the way of AMAT. How do you sleep at night???
Pros
Life in Testing is good, Life goes on, but may get bored after a couple of years. So far so good.
Cons
Too much to do. sometimes work is overwhelming, its kind of tough to balance between work and life. Long hours.
Advice to Senior Management
I guess everyone is working hard, including the management to keep doing what we are doing . Most of the Management is good, there are ofcourse some sore thumbs some places.
Pros
Very keen on talent development, good training / learning opportunties.
Good community atmosphere, easy to collaborate with cross functional group.
Agile company, quick to adapt to changes.
Cons
Very dynamic and frequent management change open opportunity but also reduce stability and security.
Work can be very demanding and difficult to strike balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Setting fair and open performance review objectives should be a requirement for middle management. Perception based performance review is detrimental to talent retention.
Pros
KT is a great place to work. Environment is good, industry is great, coworkers are excellent people and professionals. There are constant challenges ahead and creative solutions are always valued. Very strong incentive to stay sharp with onsite and offsite training and even higher education. That allied with a multi-cultural organization make it an excellent place to learn and work.
Cons
Despite all "pros" KT does not have a competitive salary policy. Not only that we do not always get the recognition for our efforts. Senior management does recognize us tough and does their best to show that (we recently received iPads as gifts) but the division level management seems blind to what we do every day and probably think that we are unaware of the market place around us.
Advice to Senior Management
Review compensations and carefully evaluate each employees contributions. Rick Wallace is a great CEO. Very charismatic and conscious of our needs, let's make the other managers share these qualities as well.
Pros
Compensation ( May be)
interesting work - so far
Cons
Lack of leadership at the senior management level ( Directors and above)
No clear objectives or direction given to the senior managers or below.
Promotions are given to the people who threaten to leave
None knows where IT is going on as long term plans are never discussed ( even for next six months )
Atleast 7 resignations since Aug-2010 and still counting- Best part - No replacement requisitions opened for any of them.
Advice to Senior Management
Define success clearly and be specific as far as your goals are concerned.. People will leave if you leave them confused.
Pros
Focus on technical excellence.
Senior management were strong technical types.
Most people were cooperative and collaborative.
Early on management were personally committed to retaining good employees.
Cons
Management focus changed from technical focus.
Software was always a little behind the competition.
Competition always had better marketing, but after buy-out it seems Thermawave had at minimum technological parity.
Advice to Senior Management
Yes, companies need to be profitable, but should also focus on the product as opposed to purely the bottom line.
Pros
There are probably more opportunities at corporate headquarters than in remote office locations. Managers seem happier than rank and file employees.
Cons
Acquisition was not handled well, in that key employes were not retained, new hires did not come on board, and the first reaction to soft demand (as a result of the global economic slowdown) was to offshore everything.
Advice to Senior Management
Monday morning quarterbacking, but it seems that more was lost than gained in this acquisition. Unless the purpose was simply to get rid of a competitor.
