Pros – - culture of doing the right thing
- great coworkers who have fun but work hard
- opportunity to interface with really bright and influential people in the HIT world
- intellectually stimulating - steep learning curve that continues to challenge
- growing, profitable
- great industry reputation - very well known, so anywhere you go in HIT, people will know KLAS
- great springboard into the HIT world - introduces newcomers to high powered hospital and vendor executives and gives them a strong industry knowledge foundation
- treat their employees well - excellent pay, benefits and flexibility

Cons – - move slowly sometimes in making changes
- conservative - so if you like to institute sweeping changes or open up bold new business lines etc, KLAS may frustrate you
- tightly held private company - management will do what it thinks best, and so sometimes people who think they are influential find out they really are not.
- little behind the times from a technology standpoint - move slowly to upgrade their SaaS offerings
- not great at marketing, so miss out on opportunities
- will sometimes appear a little hypocritical

Advice to Senior Management – - sometimes there is a feeling that the company is open to suggestions and innovation and management is pushing the concept of innovation, but they don't follow through or their idea of innovation is much more conservative than many of their employees'. So I'd say they should have a level set on what they mean by wanting to innovate and grow the business in more aggressive ways
- Take on some debt financing (they are debt free) to fund some breakthrough IT development

Great Training in Healthcare

Good energy, young staff

Cons – Poor Executive leadership, with very poor levels of Candor and leadership. Horrific pattern of turnover in the Sr. management with ugly separations with litigation.

Advice to Senior Management – You are not Epic, Cerner or McKesson you do not need so many closed door meetings, get out of your offices and away from your vendors and actually meet with your RD and RM's.

Pros – Formed great friendships with my co-workers

Cons – They have had a mass exodus. A lot of people finally got fed up with the founder and president's way of doing business. The executive team, while really good people, are very slow to make decisions and are not willing to change anything. No matter how hard anybody pleads and suggests certain issues to the executive team nothing will change and several people came to that conclusion within the same time period. The entire tech team is gone. After the director left, the entire team was gone within one month. I would avoid this place like the plague.

Advice to Senior Management – Be up front with your employees. Don't lie to their face and make them promises while all along you plan something else entirely. I cannot count the many times I was told one thing and during the next meeting the exact opposite of what was promised was put forth.

Pros – KLAS seeks out and employees honest, hardworking people who are passionate about what they do. I've never known a company to be so concerned about its employees. They hold the bar extremely high, and expect everybody to work as hard as possible; at the same time this company loves to play, and will find as many opportunities as possible to celebrate something. They are good about giving employees time off when it is needed and have a very generous PTO plan. Management communicates honestly.

Cons – It is a young company and growing quickly. This has caused some growing pains as managers try to relate to teams that are 2 or 3 times what they were just months before. A lot of momentum is generated which sometimes sweeps the staff up before proper plans are put in place.

Advice to Senior Management – The company is great, and a standard to which other companies should be held. Control the growth and establish plans for it.

Cons – Demands on the employees are unreasonable. They have fired or gotten rid of 40% of the entire company within the past 2 years. Every week I was told by my manager that I was going to be fired. This went on for a year before I was let go. I

Advice to Senior Management – Do not threaten people about losing their jobs every week if they do not meet their point quota.

Pros – The company hires primarily on referrals. Everyone gets along well and the company has high values and moral conduct. Expanding company with opportunities for many fields, with or without healthcare experience. The founders of the company are strict on their vision and idea for the company and it is privately held. This means everyone has input into how the company runs and everyone is taken seriously. Work here, no matter how small, is appreciated. Fun family events are held and it is a company that is serious about family and commitment to family-work balance.

Cons – Pay is on the lower end, but benefits and quality of work environment are on the positive side.

Understanding physicians in a way few understand.

Pros – - Great benefits (401K matching, health, dental)
- Excellent individuals on the teams; high integrity, commitment, friends
- Excellent exposure to the healthcare industry

Cons – - Poor pay with no indication of improvement in future employment
- Terrible internal motivation for employees to strive for excellence; employees are not rewarded for hard work and innovation, but rather intimidated or vaguely threatened that if they do not perform, "we'll find someone else to fill your seat on the bus"
- Executive leadership does not recognize or reward internal excellence and achievement, no clear path to bettering your career with KLAS
- Innovation stifled by status quo; I don't know how many times I've heard, "That's not the way we do it here"

Advice to Senior Management – Make meaningful investments - you are no longer a cash-strapped start up. Invest in your current talent, marketing campaigns, travel and networking.

Do what you say you are going to do. If you tell an employee that the sky is the limit, don't stifle them a week later.

Trust employees to do the right thing. We are all on board with the mission of the company and work hard to make sure we are providing valuable products and services to all of our clients. Micro managing the details of our daily work only feels like you do not trust our work.
