    Pros

KLD has a strong social mission. You work with thoughtful, engaged, and very intelligent peers. The work you do matters.

    Cons

The company is not profitable and is unable to pay well even when compared to other similarly mission driven non-profits.

    Advice to Management

Don't sell out, the work you do is important and valued by the community and your hardworking employees. Think about your grandchildren.

    Pros

They are a firm that focuses on socially responsible investment research, so the overarching mission behind the organization is pretty cool.

    Cons

It's still a pretty average financial research firm in that my work didn't directly impact the flow of capital into socially responsible firms. It was all excel spreadsheets and database entry, designed to be sold to large corporate clients in order to create profits for KLD, so the cause felt a bit "lost" in the process

    Advice to Management

Expose your interns to more areas of the business and company than just database entry. It might make more of them want to come back full-time.

    Pros

Very laid back atmosphere, fun young culture, solid benefits, convenient location. Leaves plenty of time outside of work for personal life.

    Cons

The salaries and wages KLD offers aren't great Very difficult to advance.

    Advice to Management

Try giving new opportunities to everyone; especially those who have been working there for a long period of time.

    Pros

Great staff and great field. Go to work everyday knowing you are making a positive contribution. Also interesting reseraching the good/bad of global companies. Great office environment and flexible work schedule.

    Cons

work can be tedious, as you mainly sit at a computer all day. Pay is terrible, but before the market crashed they offered great benefits.

    Advice to Management

Pay employees more and they will stay longer. Also its hard for analyst who all started at the same time and are doing the same job to all be making different amounts.

    Pros

Decent benefits, provides a useful service to the investment community, management is laid back for the most part, most staff are friendly.

    Cons

Low pay, minimal room for internal advancement, repetitive work, not much flexibility in your work once your position is set.

    Advice to Management

Improve pay (!), invest more into the development and continuing education of your staff, make a greater effort to improve/strengthen corporate culture.
