I worked at KOBELCO full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you have the need to pay the bills go for it. The stability of the company is okay but don't expect to get pay what the market bears. You will most likely be underpay. Employees are very friendly and helpful.

    Cons

The culture is very difficult to communicate and operate with other departments. Not very many department managers are qualified for their respective position. The general attitude is very tight due to most employees are underpay, hourly and salary. There is a lot of favoritism going on within the ranks and if you don't speak Japanese you are not given the special treatment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should get their upper Japanese management leadership to go through English / American culture orientation and teach them basic English communication. Their communication is horrible.

    Pros

Good company, good co-workers, good working conditions.

    Cons

Lower than average starting hourly wage, fair benefits package.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't low-ball your new employees with insulting hourly wage.

    Pros

If you like the Japanese working culture, this is exactly the company that you are looking for.
I will say the job is stable as long as you can take the stress.
If you pick the most basic heath plan, you don't need to pay a penny, but I don't know if the policy is changed now.

    Cons

There is so much office politics going on in the company.
Employees do not get along within the company.
Turn over rate for the employee is sky high, so they are always hiring.
Projects always with unreasonable time table because all the company wants is to win project.
