Pros
good to build up experience,
Cons
long hours when busy and worry about timesheet when not busy.
Advice to Senior Management
more flexible schedule like government and other companies
Pros
Good place to learn a lot and make many contacts, some of which provided opportunities to get jobs at in the future.
Cons
Some of the partners were light on the knowledge side but had political connections that helped keep them in their jobs.
Advice to Senior Management
Get more feedback from consultants on the different levels of management including managers, sr. managers and partners. Implement a 360 degree review process.
Pros
Ability to take off work when necessary; good benefits package
Cons
Too many politics. If you didn't play the game or know the right person you don't go anywhere.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership has a hard time seeing beyond numbers - they need to see the people that work there too. Retrain performance managers so they are better able to communicate. Initiate 360 feedback for all levels.
Pros
Great professionalism
Undoubtedly one of the finest when it comes to work-life balance
Good communication between management and employees
Fantastic knowledge sharing org-wide
Cons
Low salary, detrimental salary structure
Not into proper strategy consulting
Medium end work, not cutting edge
Competing at a very small space, that of process consulting
Advice to Senior Management
Pay has to be good enough to recruit the brightest minds
Suppose someone is good at consulting but is say working with tax. How do you judge him? I would say organise org-wide competitions. Check out winners, make them offers to move into the other service lines. Might be a radical idea, but today that's what organisations need. Personal nurturing of employees is the buzzword.
Pros
fairly nice people little office politics
Cons
work overtime get too tired
Advice to Senior Management
inrease the salary standard
Pros
Brand name, and the connections you can make are all very important.
Cons
Work/life not necessarily the best, and also locations can be inconvenient.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing a great job.
Pros
Partner's tend to be quite knowledgable; some interesting work; tend to be understanding about family emergencies; generally a pleasant place with few screamers
Cons
Very bureaucratic; certain people are not respectful of individual time (calls on holidays and work on holidays - the big holidays); compensation is not enough for hours (regularly work 60+ hours for not a lot)
Advice to Senior Management
Management at the office level I would say is actually quite good; the higher level management is a little out of touch with reality; change the e-mail infrastructure - it is killing productivity; improve internal document storage - Orion is horrible
Pros
The best reasons to work at KPMG is because of the people and the learning environment. The people are intelligent, friendly, professional, and always work as a support system to better one another.
Cons
One of the cons of working at KPMG are the hours, although anyone in this profession should be prepared to work many hours during busy season in order to better service the clients. And the main pro I mentioned above, the people, make the hours go by much faster.
Advice to Senior Management
I do not have any advice for leadership at this time, the leadership of KPMG has continually performed for the best of the company and its employees.
Pros
KPMG in Luxembourg exposes you to a vast number of big name clients in the finance industry...you don't work yourself to death as in London or Paris, even though hours are longer than in Luxembourgish banks
Advisory and Tax are growing, so the possibility of being promoted is high
Good Networking opportunities
Cons
Office space is cramped, as KPMG has grown extensively in the past year
HIgh turnover as with most Big4 due to lower than average salaries on the Luxembourgish market
No car leasing plans for junior advisors and assistants
Advice to Senior Management
Solve the open office situation by renting additional office space to accommodate the growing number of employees
Implement car leasing plan for assistants
Pros
Nice environment
Effective performance measure
Nice end-year bonus
High technology investment
Open doors policy - everybody is accessible, even the CEO
Cons
High pressure, everything is ultra urgent
A lot of temporary things get permanent
Few opportunities to grow in administrative areas
