Advice to Senior Management
N/A
Pros
You will always be learning on the job
Cons
Everyone around you are workaholics.
Pros
All your travel and overtime meal expenses are reimbursed. There is per diem. Pretty standard for a large, multinational firm like KPMG, but hey, it's nice to have so that you're not paying for business costs out of your own pocket.
KPMG also gives full time Associates 25 vacation/sick days each year. This is addition to 8 days of firm holiday that everyone gets off.
Cons
Although the internship salary was comparable with the other Big 4, KPMG pays its full time Associates about 2k less than its competitors in the Big 4.
Advice to Senior Management
Give full time Associates and Senior Associates to make it on par with your competitors.
Pros
As a big four this is everything you expect, being a COG on the chain but the benefits that come with a massive institution.
Cons
You don't get the ability to truly understand how your role fits the overall project.
Advice to Senior Management
All levels of management need to do a better job of acknowledging the grueling hours.
Pros
A lot of Industry exposure
Surrounded by intelligent and competent people
Good intra-organizational networking opportunities
A lot of autonomy is granted within project teams so that ad hoc issues may be addressed as they appear
Cons
Very, very long hours
Frequent work on nights and weekends
Difficult to predict when client requests will come through
Since our litigation support function exists within KPMG, it is difficult to get the umbrella company to address differences in the way our office works as contrasted with other areas
Advice to Senior Management
More people from within the company need to get promoted to manager positions. By hiring most managers from outside the company, associate and senior associate morale can be damaged.
Hard work should be rewarded with much greater frequency given the rather long hours and amount of night and weekend work that is performed.
Upper management needs to be more cognizant of the industry trends to keep our function relevant in the next five years and beyond.
Pros
knowledge, challenge, team woking environment, exposure to different industry, working with different people and team, core business of a company
Cons
very stressful, long working hours, tight deadline, inefficient working arrangement, bad team working environment if cannot get along with team leader
Advice to Senior Management
listen to the employees, more effective and efficient leading style, better client acceptance, higher compensation, more activities, encouraging flexible working arrangement
Pros
A lot of exposure to different clients. A great place to be if you are just starting your career. Great people.
Cons
A lot of office politics. Also, KPMG is the smallest big four among the other big four in Los Angeles.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop piggyback of the other big four, be innovative and come up with its own idea instead of just copying ideas from the other big four.
Pros
Is willing to accomodate those without pedigree degrees
Open to listening to your concerns
Cons
If your not qualified to be a consultant this is the place for you.
Very political
Does not spend money on its employees
Advice to Senior Management
You will always be the 4th of the Big 4 if you dont start spending money on your most valuable resource....your employees
