    Pros

    Easy work
    Some good trainings
    Some good qualified individuals

    Cons

You are based on one metric which is how chargeable you are. The advisory practice is a national level practice and you can put on any projects throughout the country, but they have such lazy unqualified resource managers who dont know what skills match the individuals with the projects and therefore most of the time you would just sit on bench without work. Senior management also doesnt help in anyways allocating you into projects. But every year end they judge you on how many hours of work you have put in and not on your performance. If you do get lucky and get onto a project, you still cannot claim the allocated hours because of no work in the project.

The only way to survive here to be a bootlicker to your manager. There is absolutely no personal or professional growth, you do not get opportunity to work in different areas or industries as they promise during your interview. Increased politics, you will only get promoted if you are one of the partner/Sr managers favorites.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You cant base someones performance when you cant bring in business. Please change the way your review people based on performance and not changeability alone as each practice works in different way and also hear from staff because ultimately it is the staff who does all the work and not the managers.

I worked at KPMG US full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent Salary, generally friendly people, there are plenty of training opportunities, it is easy to make friends with likeminded people, and while I was there, management hosted many social events.

    Cons

You are just a number and easily replaceable, the job is unfulfilling, the hours can be miserable, and once you are there it is hard to leave because it will be difficult to find similar pay for the hours you work.

    Pros

    - Good management at the manager and partner level that helped me develop.
    - Good sense of long career path possibilities
    - experience with high profile clients

    Cons

    - very long hours at time
    - feel underappreciated some times
    - bad salary and bonus for the amount of hours you put in

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More training for new hires, it seems they just get slapped with work and are on their own to figure out almost everything.

    Pros

Excellent long-term and short-term benefits, great time-off policy and flexible work schedules, very diverse place to work with opportunities for both domestic and international rotations.

    Cons

Many areas of the business are growing fast, and in some cases there are resource shortages, so people find themselves working many long hours and weekends to meet client demands. So, if you work in one of these areas, it becomes difficult to take time off and to take advantage of flexible work schedules.

Fantastic firm to work for overall!

Current Employee - Senior Manager in New York, NY
Current Employee - Senior Manager in New York, NY

I have been working at KPMG US full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Open door culture, teaming, employee satisfaction, benefits and vendor discounts, some of the best technical training and learning opportunities, diverse clients.

    Cons

As with any other consulting environment, pressured environment at times. In some cases too much centralized structures. Wonder if consulting firms should adopt some culture of companies in industry so as to focus on low-performing divisions with a view to "fix" them.
