I worked at Kaltura full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

After working there for two years I can't really find one.

    Cons

Management do not think about their employees or what they have to say.
In many cases they will be rude to you.

No documentation whatsoever, you will have to find it on your own.

Product is unstable and customers are facing with a lot of downtime, frustration and pressure is everywhere.

No work balance as you are expected to work all the time no exceptions.

    Working environment is below standards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't have to go into the office everyday.
    Good product and technology.

    Cons

    Micro Management runs their employees.
    Middle management is under qualified
Middle and upper management are more concerned about their ego's and titles than the employee's who work for them.
Pay is on the low side compared to industry standard.
    Internal communication is non existent.
Nobody has a clue what's going between other departments.
No clear path or guidance. You're basically left on an island to figure it out for yourself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Like they would listen. Maybe tone down the arrogance a little bit.

I worked at Kaltura full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

If you're able to find your place in the company you can get promoted, sent overseas and work on a great project.
Complete five years of work in a single year.

    Cons

The rest are treated horribly, no real workflows inside the company.
All stays in the same closed circles.
Less then 3 month turnover for new employees in almost any position.
Work / Life balance is non existent, you will work as hard as you ever worked and it won't be enough.
Not afraid to fire, or make you want to leave.
No clear job titles, positions and jobs. everyone should find his place in the organization.
No mentoring and there isn't a real procedure to hire new employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees better and create and maintain reasonable workflows and procedures.

I have been working at Kaltura

    Pros

Flexible work schedule. (don't need to be in the office everyday)
Sr. Management willing to attend any meeting
    Product is decent enough

    Cons

    Micromanagement runs rampant
Incompetence runs rampant in many management positions
Work/Life balance is non-existent. You are expected to work all the time no exceptions.
Management calls out individual employees for poor performance to use as examples.
"No one is safe" environment in order to keep employes in line
Rule by fear and intimidation is key
High turnover rate in every position exists
Certain members of management have no power or say and it clearly shows.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Whatever, they will continue to run it their way regardless of what advice is given. If I were to give some advice I would say tone it down a notch

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in San Francisco, CA

I worked at Kaltura full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

It's growing quickly and the salaries are good. There are a lot of industry professionals within the company that have a lot of connections.

    Cons

Many employees are jaded and there is a general atmosphere of frustration. Kaltura moves surprisingly slowly for a startup, with a lot of focus on money at the cost of a strong company culture. There are often long hours, few rewards and few opportunities for advancement. Also, not many women in management positions, and they're not widely respected. Many employees, especially in the US, are very concerned about their egos and focus more on their personal relationships rather than moving the company forward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nearly every employee is frustrated on a daily basis, and you will continue to lose good employees by not taking real, committed steps to improving this.

I have been working at Kaltura full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Success prospect. From commercially point of view Kaltura is managed in a proper way and seems to become a success. It is business oriented, rather than tech oriented like many of start ups that I was involved with before Kaltura.

    Cons

The human relations are not too good. Occasionally the management behave in a rude way, without 'seeing' the employee. The are many 'management' actions that seems like been take from a textbook without actually thinking whether they suit Kaltura or not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think about your employees, take'em in account not by textbook, but by a human approach.
