I worked at Kansas State University full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits include 22 vacation days and 14 sick days per year (they don't expire at the end of the year) and 12% employer 401K contribution. Health insurance is around $50 per pay check for the whole family and they give you an additional $2250 per year to cover your deductible.
    Relaxed, non-pressured work environment
Small college town, so no traffic

    Cons

Less salary than an equivalent industry position
    Not much growth opportunity.

I have been working at Kansas State University part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good support network and ability to let you grow at your own pace while at the same time being challenged to do better.

    Cons

Lack of program organization and clarity of compensation could be addressed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As the PhD program grows, so should the professional nature of engagement and support grow for the PhD students.

I have been working at Kansas State University part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Awesome culture - it's almost like "family" as the whole university is. Everyone shows their appreciation for you!

    Cons

There aren't really any drawbacks, I like my job! But as a student worker of course, you don't get any paid time off, which really shouldn't be expected. But if I need to leave early for a school reason, they are very flexible - they know school comes first.
