    Pros

Good working conditions for a call center.

    Cons

Kaplan is not loyal to their sales staff, they hire 200 in September and lay them off in June .

    Advice to Management

Develop some care about your sales force.

    Pros

Managers are always ready, wiling and able to coach and help their people get better. Self-development is encouraged. Good benefits package.

    Cons

It's a fairly monotonous job. It can be difficult at times, especially when expectations are raised when it's obvious they can't be reached. When your best advisors have trouble reaching their goals, there's a problem.

    Advice to Management

Jump in an advisors seat and see what they're dealing with on a daily basis.

    Pros

It's a nice job to have as a student. So that way you can put down the experience on your resume.

    Cons

I could be very unorganized at times.

    Pros

Great benefits. Great culture. Ability to work from home.

    Cons

Lack of leadership. Rumors of curtailing work from home benefit.

    Advice to Management

Promote veterans of the company to leadership positions rather than hiring someone from the outside.

    Pros

Great team, manager cared. Ability to attend College for free with the 100% tuition waver waiver after 30 days of employment.

    Cons

Horrible work environment. Had to basically force perspective and current students to register and attend classes. Held accountable for students that weren't interested in attending school. Students cared more about their financial aid.

    Advice to Management

Don't force students and don't force employees to enroll students that don't have computers and who are not really interested in attending school.

    Pros

Was a paycheck and it taught me what a terrible company is.

    Cons

Everything! The management did not care about any of their employees. They looked for ways to fire you. The favoritism and corruption was rampart. Some of the things that thee company directed the managers to enforce upon the admission were out right illegal. One of my bosses had no college degree and a thug mentality, she should have never been allowed to be employed at a so called university while never having gone to one herself. My other boss was a "yes man" to upper management with a napoleon complex, he would throw you under the bus right in front of you. We were given a what to say to reporters when the for profit industry got caught doing un-ethical business practices. It is by far the worst company and I do not know how they are still in business. DO NOT work there unless you are about to be homeless, but have an exit plan.

    Advice to Management

Go to college and get a degree since you work at a university, and learn real business practices.

    Pros

Great place to teach. Lots of support and students are expected to be challenged not coddled.

    Cons

They reduced salary for teaching graduate level courses to match that of college level. It's now per student enrolled which is ridiculous for graduate courses.

    Advice to Management

Raise salary for those teaching more complex courses.

    Pros

Technology forward and willing to take risks. People stay because of the people they work with by far.

    Cons

Decision making by top leadership. Expectations to deliver no matter the timeline.

I have been working at Kaplan University (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent communication with staff and department meetings

    Cons

Large class sizes, which means longer work hours for less pay.. staff expectations keep increasing but pay rate actually took a cut

    Advice to Management

Lower class sizes and have someone make sure that assignments truly match CLAs and GELs.
