The company looks out for its employees. The benefits package is superb

OES (Onsite Endoscopy Specialist) (Current Employee)

ProsThe potential for growth is high. There are always new positions opening up as the company keeps growing

ConsHard to let go of people who are not optimal performers so co-workers end up giving 150% while the other person gives a mere 50%. Most job opportunities on the East Coast are physically demanding so you can get burnt out easily and quickly

    Average Company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe benefits are superb. The company promotes/supports healthy lifestyle practices.

ConsManagers seem to have no clue as to what their associates are doing because they have to attend meetings all day long. Unfair compensation for the people that work hard. No chance for advancement. Communication is poor. Low pay raises.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement should take the time to get to know employees better. Pay raises should not be evaluated by giving each employee the same amount rather than making it personal. All employees should be treated equally.

    Not what I was promised.

    Sales (Current Employee)

ProsGreat industry reputation which is great for business. Salary sounds better than it turns out to be, but very good health insurance.

ConsSales management not truthful in the reality of expected annual salary. Expectation for growth is completely unrealistic with such junior sales teams. Tenured guys all migrating out because salaries have dropped. New guys foolishly hanging on waiting for promises to be fulfilled.

Advice to Senior ManagementEngage. Coach. Support. Listen.

    Good company, compensation, and benefits.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat employee benefits - employees are encouraged to lead healthy lifestyles, and there are many incentives to do so. Most managers support work/life balance so it makes it a good place to work if you have children. They are very relaxed about keeping track of attendance ie. being at work on time, so as long as you work hard and get your work done on time, nobody really will give you a hard time about it. They encourage a friendly environment, and many of the people at work are really friends, which is good for morale, I guess. They encourage having fun at work which is good if you like your job.

ConsAlot of secrecy. Company is still privately owned and they do not share much information with employees. Decisions are made at high levels and handed down, and there are problems with silos since there are so many divisions of the company in the U.S. and overseas. Competing priorities between divisions and departments - and many of the senior execs don't get along, which creates divisions in work groups. Bonus plans are not fairly distributed - work groups that do not have a direct impact on service or customers get big bonuses, while others get a very very small year end bonus based on time with the company. Sales Reps are the big fish at this company, they do very well in compensation, but there is little to no diversity in those jobs.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider revisiting compensation across departments, functions, and business units to create a more clear career path for employees that want to make their job a career. Trust employees with knowledge about the company's direction and financial performance. Make the execs of various divisions get along, stop the madness with the silo mentality and work together if you want to see employees do the same.

    Good benefits, charitable company.

    Senior Financial Analyst (Current Employee)
    El Segundo, CA

ProsGreat benefits with above average vacation time. Friendly coworkers. Commonly holds events to give back to community. Company works hard to try and maintain life/work balance whenever possible.

ConsSome silo effects going on between company departments. No clear direction on career path in many cases can make growing with company difficult. Changes are occurring to try and drive company goals through the company, but this will take time

    Great Company. Great Values.

    Marketing (Current Employee)
    El Segundo, CA

ProsExcellent benefits. Some very smart people. Compensation is competitive. The family cuture is great. The products are innovative and promote patient satisfaction.

ConsSlow to promote. Competing goals from different divisions which makes streamlining processes difficult. Structure needs to change in order for operational efficiences to take shape.

Privately owned company with old fashioned values

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe company does actually believe in it's core values - especially improving the quality of human lives through charity. Mrs Storz donates several hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of endoscopic devices to hospitals and health facilities in third world and poor countries, often times to support women and children's health. I believe they really care about employees as people - something very hard to find these days.

ConsSilos. So many acquisitions have resulted in divisions of the company acting and operating like seperate businesses - often with conflicting priorities. This causes a great deal of frustration among employees and leaders, are quickly exhuasted at the pace - which is often a result of the "this is top priority, hurry up, do it now..." direction from above that never seems to end and burns people out. The ownership is slow to accept change in the areas of general business in the areas of technology

Advice to Senior ManagementBonus Plan needs to be distributed among all departments rather than a select few. Sales oriented and focused company that compensates it's sales organization very well, but needs to take a look at the other very hard working employees compensation levels. Very little diversity among the field sales force - or at executive levels.

Prosprivately held company, don't have to adhere to some of the cost cutting acts that public companies strive to make

    Consemployees are not properly incentivized

    El Segundo - Poor Management

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    El Segundo, CA

    ProsIncomparable health benefits and location.

ConsManagement lacks consistencies with Core Values of company. Management lacks the skills to successfully and properly lead a cohesive work environment. African Americans are commonly over-looked for middle management and upper management positions and are pacified with less than notable positions and meager salary increases. The rules of engagement with Management often shifts without consistency.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove to provide extensive training for those who manage and direct. Need to be more proactive on work place ethics and properly conduct investigations of concerns that directly affect the integrity of an individual or department. Proper assessment of workplace bullying.
