    Pros

Company has a very team orientated culture with everyone working together to achieve management goals. Promotions occur very regularly and compensation is very competitive. Innovation is their prime concern and the R&D department is greatly supported.

    Cons

The company focuses too much on meetings. Some projects take too much time to be implemented. Problems from different departments trickle down into others causing disruptions between departments.

    Pros

Attractive comp plan and benefits package.

    Cons

Limited growth opportunity; extremely poor morale due to a complete lack of leadership on the part of upper management. Lots of dysfunction wide out in the open and no one addressing it - both personal issues and professional issues. The skilled, talented employees are either already gone or preparing to leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to your people, get engaged. Address the employees you know are not carrying their weight. Pay attention to these things and take action as needed. Stop making things so personal - put aside who you like and don't like and start behaving like professionals instead of children.

    Cons

Karl Storz Endoscopy is "not to be trusted" in regards to your commission being paid in a timely manor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The German mentality here runs deep and your complete willingness to disregard talent and an individuals effort must change.

    Average Company

I have been working at Karl Storz Endoscopy full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits are superb. The company promotes/supports healthy lifestyle practices.

    Cons

Managers seem to have no clue as to what their associates are doing because they have to attend meetings all day long. Unfair compensation for the people that work hard. No chance for advancement. Communication is poor. Low pay raises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should take the time to get to know employees better. Pay raises should not be evaluated by giving each employee the same amount rather than making it personal. All employees should be treated equally.

    Good company, compensation, and benefits.

I worked at Karl Storz Endoscopy full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great employee benefits - employees are encouraged to lead healthy lifestyles, and there are many incentives to do so. Most managers support work/life balance so it makes it a good place to work if you have children. They are very relaxed about keeping track of attendance ie. being at work on time, so as long as you work hard and get your work done on time, nobody really will give you a hard time about it. They encourage a friendly environment, and many of the people at work are really friends, which is good for morale, I guess. They encourage having fun at work which is good if you like your job.

    Cons

Alot of secrecy. Company is still privately owned and they do not share much information with employees. Decisions are made at high levels and handed down, and there are problems with silos since there are so many divisions of the company in the U.S. and overseas. Competing priorities between divisions and departments - and many of the senior execs don't get along, which creates divisions in work groups. Bonus plans are not fairly distributed - work groups that do not have a direct impact on service or customers get big bonuses, while others get a very very small year end bonus based on time with the company. Sales Reps are the big fish at this company, they do very well in compensation, but there is little to no diversity in those jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider revisiting compensation across departments, functions, and business units to create a more clear career path for employees that want to make their job a career. Trust employees with knowledge about the company's direction and financial performance. Make the execs of various divisions get along, stop the madness with the silo mentality and work together if you want to see employees do the same.

I have been working at Karl Storz Endoscopy full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The potential for growth is high. There are always new positions opening up as the company keeps growing

    Cons

Hard to let go of people who are not optimal performers so co-workers end up giving 150% while the other person gives a mere 50%. Most job opportunities on the East Coast are physically demanding so you can get burnt out easily and quickly
