Great people to work with, company not so much

Quality Manager (Current Employee) Lavonia, GA

ProsHad a great team in Lavonia. Talented, good leadership and interesting products.

ConsGerman leadership at top levels presented certain challenges. Lots more micromanagement than I would prefer.

Advice to Senior ManagementValue the team members and work to keep them.

A growing company that will pay you well for a lot of very hard work, long hours, and dedication.

Program Manager (Current Employee) Troy, MI

ProsThe pay is generally considered to be higher than average. There is a great opportunity for relocation if you want it.

ConsThe long hours and weekend sacrifices are common. There is very high pressure to exceed expectations at all times.

Advice to Senior ManagementAlways listen to your people. They are your greatest asset.

First of all, I used to work such as a tool crib Attendant for 5 years.

Social Work, Translator, Interpretor, Mediator (Former Employee) Fort Wayne, IN

ProsThe company is a good company and it is also international company. Kautex Textron had many branches in many countries such as: (South, Africa, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Canada and US).

ConsThe downside is not like people think about it.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe upper management was excellent; no complaining at that point.

Great pay, but you will work for the money.

Manager Role (Current Employee) Troy, MI

ProsCompensation and benefits are much better as compared to many of the Tier 1 suppliers in the area. They provide you with the tools to improve yourself professionally, if you can find the time. They offer tuition reimbursement and web based training tools. They pay 15 or 16 holidays and normally give the requested vacation time that a new hire with experience requests.

ConsLack of innovation and managements ability to understand strategic requirements makes it difficult for the company to compete. Many of the managers often flip-flop with their decisions because the frankly don't know what to do. A lot of the policies and cultural requirements are created in Bonn without input from US personnel. The German's and American's do not appear to understand one another's cultures - even after all of these years.

Advice to Senior ManagementPractice strategic management and improve your innovation. Use your tools to give the customer what they want and not what you think that they need.

Great company and challenging due to the automotive nature of the business.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsSenior leadership understands what are the things needed to keep the company ahead.

ConsThere needs to be better alignment between the US operations and Bonn. The two sides need to work together to achieve the common goals and that can only be done by bridging the gap in cultural differences. The Germans have a unique was of doing things which are more straightforward and less window dressing compared to the US counterparts. This is often a source of conflict but could become a source of getting things done quicker.

    Terrible place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsAutomotive industry is strong (for now) and they have expertise in blow molding fuel systems. Textron provides them a big cushion for capital and expertise.

ConsCEO is cruel, can't be reasoned with and very hot tempered. The worst person I have ever worked for. Left a large body count of very capable employees and shouldn't be in management of any sort. He has no use for Americans. Quick to turn a blind eye to whatever is happening in Mexico as long as they turn a profit.

Textron has been happy to rid itself of a lot of non-aircraft business and has always hatred Automotive. Only a matter of time before this place is sold.

Benefits are comparable to other companies of this size.

ConsManagement will say one thing and do another.
Not all divisions are treated as equals.
Compensation package is not consistant within the same job classification.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement tofocusedon short term goals. Need to stop sacrificing the future to meet this months financials. Need to work to have people want to work here.
