I have been working at Kearney & Company

    Pros

Supportive management, diversity of challenging Federal engagements, lots of extracurricular events, paid for all hours worked, good benefits, events tickets to concerts and sporting events

    Cons

Audit season can get hectic with deadlines while studying/preparing for CPA, but that comes with the territory as an accountant.

I have been working at Kearney & Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company offers plenty of benefits, a relaxed office culture and friendly employees. As far as companies in the Federal accounting field, this is one of the better companies to work for. The company does pay for every hour worked.

    Cons

Depending on the project you are assigned, work-life balance can be difficult. This increases as you are promoted within the company. If you are assigned to a limited hour engagement, the compensation is lower than its competitors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider the work load of the key people in the company. While compensation is not a strong point at the company, the company is a fun place to work and has great people working for it.

I have been working at Kearney & Company full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I came on board and the leadership team was inviting and willing to help with career progression and work.
At first, HR was helpful and willing to answer HR-related questions.
Holidays. I'm trying to get some certifications and move on.

    Cons

After a while, the pros erode away. Leadership doesn't have time for you and the best way to move up the chain is to suck up to management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Enough with the kiss-up mentality.

I have been working at Kearney & Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Open lines of communication – management does a good job setting expectations. Kearney has some of the same clients as any consulting company in the DC Area, yet they are still able to create a more productive and relaxed atmosphere. All the work is done in a team environment which is great because I am surrounded by some of the best co-workers that I have ever had.

Another great aspect of working here is that all of the Partners & Principals have extensive federal experience and really understand 1) the work that we are performing and 2) they understand our clients.

    Cons

Work can be stressful - everything is deadline driven - sometimes my commute to client site can be atrocious, healthcare costs have increased during my tenure here.

I have been working at Kearney & Company full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

This is an good place for young professional to begin their careers. Clear career paths and the opportunity to socialize with their peers. Management is more visible and accessible than most larger CPA firms.

On the high end of the job spectrum, it can be paradise...

    Cons

If you are mid career, you can do better. A deep layer of "friends and family" in the executive suite limits advancement opportunities for senior professionals. Some long-time executives tend to rest on their laurels and shift their workload to mid-level managers while they arrange tee times and upgrade their auto leases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Large businesses are different from mom and pops. To regain momentum, consider substituting cronyism with some fresh perspectives from more independent voices.

    Pros

The company fosters a family type atmosphere and takes the time to get to know the employees. They also offer many opportunities for networking and attending social functions within the company.

    Cons

The work is very one dimensional and repetitious.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Attempt to rotate the staff more so the employee can obtain the best for for the company as well as himself.

I worked at Kearney & Company full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This company is small enough that you can build a relationship with your peers and co-workers. Also, the President seems to have a strong belief in employee satisfaction

    Cons

It seems like the Partners really only carried about their career advancements and not your career advancements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If direct reports to Partner's fail with customers, then, the Partners much bear some of the responsibility
