Great experience at Keenan and Associates in Torrance, CA

    Former Contractor - Anonymous Contractor
    Former Contractor - Anonymous Contractor

I worked at Keenan & Associates as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Complete and throrough knowledge of the company is what each employee maintains. Expert communication and executive skills. Work flow volume is steady and easy to accomplish.

    Cons

Since most of the employees are long term, they may not be as open to work ethics of the newer employees bringing in fresh flavor from being on the outside.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They seem to adhere to a dress code of ethics that are not demonstrated upon arrival. It would be helpful to hand out this code in a flyer of some sort for the staff.

I worked at Keenan & Associates full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Sorry but the "Cons" outweigh the "Pros" by 101%.

    Cons

My experience was awful. I worked with colleagues who did not want to help. My training plan for 1 year failed (e.g. people assigned to my training were non-existing or complained because they have to train a newbie). I am an experienced P&C Broker for many years and I did not survive Keenan. I thought it was me being stupid and lost confidence. I'm glad I'm not at Keenan anymore. I love my new job. The best part is since I moved on, there are current Keenan employees who asked for my help find them another job!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your employees to be more open-minded and embrace new talents. Remind your employees that backstabbing one another is not the proper way to get promoted. Getting convinced that a certain employee is not worth keeping without proper investigation is not professional. Oh and by the way, is it true that Keenan has a way of listening or reading your text messages even if it's on your personal cell phone???

    Pros

Great benefits, perks--great reimbursement for continuing your degree...very friendly environment. They can't tell when you are goofing off since my area of expertise is very specific...

    Cons

IT is not up to speed--Am thinking it's too good to be true--feel kind of guilty for not doing too much. I guess it's a good thing until it's over

    Pros

Company pays for your healthcare but justifies lower salaries because they pay for your HC. Depending on your client end supervisor, your job can be a joy.

    Cons

Currently, there's lots of turnover. Company processes are inefficient and time consuming. Better faster cheaper is disrespectful. There are no career opportunities for open free thinkers. Technology has barely entered the 21st century and there is NO intent to change despite promises to do so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees in the front lines. Respect them and compensate them properly.

I worked at Keenan & Associates full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked in a great environment with other adjusters who had excellent work ethics. I felt that the company really appreciated every employee. I handled a variety of claims from the initial report through completion of the case. Many of my claims involved complex litigation issues that gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of the claims administration process.

    Cons

I cannot think of any cons about working for this company. I really enjoyed the time that I was an employee for Keenan and Associates.

    Pros

Trust. Integrity in business relationships and employee/employer relationships . Character counts here.

More internal structured training is needed. The work environment is dreary, 1970's beige cubbies, blank walls.
