Pros
You will love working at Kellogg, people are great, there is a lot of mentorship and team building.
Cons
pay is not always the best, there is a lot of burocracy in the larger business units
Relationship with senior management depends on your ability to get them to like you
Advice to Senior Management
Consider the work at lower levels across countries because sometimes regional takes credit for ideas. Processes are starting to be stablished so its complicated to deliver results under such a changing envioronment
Pros
Growth opportunities and supportive environment
Cons
Lack of ability to make tough calls and strategic trade offs
Pros
Great brands with strong heritage consumers love
Cons
Slow to make changes and does not have a strong succession plan for top talent employees. HR departemen weak and fails to deliver.
Advice to Senior Management
NO
Pros
Lots of opportunities for advancement, opportunities to work cross functionally, generally good work-life balance, summer hours, solid benefits package, challenging work
Cons
Business results have been stagnant in recent years, management made large organizational changes in the past few years that put unnecessary strain on the organization
Advice to Senior Management
Set a vision for the future and stick to it to create some continuity for employees, communicate better with employees and treat employees with respect
Pros
work-life balance. opportunities to understand the complexities of a multinational corp. opportunities to learn from peers in both your country and other regions.
Cons
opportunities to grow are very subjective. there are clear opportunities to grow but the path is not well clear or defined.
Advice to Senior Management
clarity between all different levels of management. Communication among regional and local management must be improved. keep up the good work.
Pros
Work Life balance encouraged
People generally friendly
Nice atmosphere
Cons
"Good news company" - in these tough times they need to tell it like it is!
Very little opportunity for progression unless you are in Finance or Marketing
Your development depends on how interested your Director is in developing people!
People here think they are under pressure - they don't have a clue, the most relaxed place to work I've ever been in!
Location - Ireland is NOT an attractive international location and the European HQ is starting to feel very 'local' - also the economic situation has not been helpful to take home pay, something the company has avoided addressing
Advice to Senior Management
Enough of the mollycoddling - tell it like it is
Pros
Flexible schedule is available and convenient.
Cons
There are not enough hours based on the low pay.
No benefits available for part time merchandisers.
Very difficult to move up in the company after the restructure.
No separate gas reimbursement and wear and tear on your own vehicle.
Managers not skilled in managing and promoted for the wrong reasons.
Advice to Senior Management
Do not promote managers based solely on affirmative action when they do not possess competent manager skills.
Pros
Non-attorney pay, additional compensation and benefits are generally quite good. A few good people.
Cons
Abusive behavior of particular top management that continues to be tolerated which ultimately affects the entire organization. Lip service to "K Values" which is sort of a code of conduct, yet underneath it there is horrific back stabbing and unprofessional behavior. Indecision in some quarters and some terrible decision making in others with regard to product claims and quality control. Oddly insular for a global company and stunning lack of sophistication with regard to the role of government and media and need to properly engage in both. Attorneys are lured away from high paying law firm jobs, knowing they will make less money but with the promise of pretty good bonuses and benefits and excellent work/life balance. this proves not to be true. The legal staff works as hard or harder than at a law firm with significantly lower pay. No one has time to look up from their desk or see their family.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop coddling those in top management who have a proven record of abusive behavior and/or poor judgement on critical issues to the company. It would send a strong signal of real change and intent to make a for a better work place and product.
Pros
close to home and flexible hours
Cons
the union management was to adamanet in dealing with the company
Pros
Kellogg Co provides great compensation and benefits. The workplace feel is not aggressive. Most of the people are truly nice to work with.
Cons
Location is not ideal - SW MIchigan. Promotions in the R&D area are decided in an unorthodox manner. Passive aggressive behavior is common.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on results not "show"
