Kellogg USA Reviews

Pros
Pay is fairly competitive.
Benefits are awesome - domestic partner included.
Can buy a week of vacation if less than 20 years of service, but start out with 2 weeks (too little).
Can work for the Kashi brand- which is a great product (but have to move to CA).
Corporate employees have an onsite gym and cafeteria. They get way more perks.Cons
Headquarters is in Battle Creek, MI - BAD economy right now and nothing there.
Plant level - Corporate micro-manages EVERYTHING you do. You feel like you are a vessel, not a real employee that can make sound decisions on your own (without the fear of losing your job).
Advanacement opportunities in plant are NON-EXISTENT.
Corporate people get more perks (cafeteria and gym) plus more rewards (team activities and going out)
Upper Management is horrible - no actual leadership. No one can guide you or develop you in your career at the plant level.
They do not take young people seriously at the plant level. They are more left in the corner to take care of day-to-day tasks so that they do not gain knowledge and "take over" upper management's jobs.
Kellogg's has meetings to talk about meetings. They are endless and useless.
Union employees have better benefits than the front line managers. Front line managers are paid less (due to the huge amounts of overtime the hourly receive) and are accountable for everything. Hourly employees are not accountable for their actions at all.
The safety at Kellogg's has been blown out of proportion - not effective at all.
They are very cut-throat and will fire someone without the blink of an eye.
As expected with a large corporation, the politics are at large, and it's hard to be promoted since Kellogg's does not trust anyone - even their own employees. It's also hard to see the impact of your contributions since the company is so large.Advice to Senior Management
Stop thinking about your millions of dollar you receive in compensation every year and start looking at what you are doing to a once great company. Kellogg himself set a legacy that you are not fulfilling! It's a shame that all you care about is your compensation. You don't realize how many lives you are ruining and what you are a doing to the company's culture. There are many GREAT people that work for this company, and the directors do not care who they cut and what impact it has on the community.
