Pros
-Fantastic benefits
- Pay is good/fair, perhaps slightly above average
- Good, humble people
Cons
Large projects tend to be fast-tracked and OT is often when you're on a large project.
Advice to Senior Management
Set more realistic timelines for large projects.
Pros
Good Money
Good Money
Good Money
Cons
Work 12 - 14 hour days
Work 21 days straight with 2 days off
1st Level Supervisors are always to blame for poor plant results.
Senior Management does not have a vision for the company
No work Life Balance
Other Supervisor call in sick to get days off.
Advice to Senior Management
Insanity is doing the same things every day, expecting different results.
Pros
The company overall has a good reputation, however the Rossville, TN location has a long way to go to get things on track. It was a mess. The new plant manager is trying hard to make things change, but it is critical to the success of the operation to have managers own up to their responsibility. The quality issues are also in total disarray due to poor leadership.
Cons
Lack of training in every department
Advice to Senior Management
It is important to hold managers accountable for their responsiblities. Are you bringing in change agents & leaders or people who just want to get paid?? How important is training to the success of the operation? People are overworked, overpaid and undertrained.
Pros
The compensation package was very good. I worked with allot of fine people at Kellogg's. My supervisor was fair to me and let me run my territory.
Cons
Morale is low due to Keebler management taking over control of Kellogg's. At store level received allot of grief over the Keebler rep and the job that he/she did.
Advice to Senior Management
Fix Keebler side of business. The DSD side is draining the company and lowering morale. They work for the most part very hard with long hours and they are not very happy which affects their work at store level. Reflects badly on the whole company.
Pros
Great Benefits from day one of employment available. Company car.
Cons
I have never worked for a company that tells me not to put my correct hours on my timesheet. Not allowed to go over the 40 hour mark, but can't get all the work done in that amount of time. Very unreasonable sales goals and not enough man hours to do it. If the TM had more hours allotted, they would be able to sell more instead of throwing the loads themselves. It would also take some pressure off of us TSR's so we could help sell also. Too many stores to take care of (14)
Advice to Senior Management
Come out in the field and get this done in the allotted time with all the hang ups we run into at the stores and then tell me 4 or 5 stores a day is do-able.
Pros
Good flexibility including summer hours at HQ
Pay is pretty good compared to other industries
The co-workers are good to work with
A nice place if you have no ambition to use your training and skills
Cons
They aren't really sure how they are going to improve but they think they do
Too much reliance on consultants without the knowledge to know when it is the wrong direction
HQ location is in steep decline
Risk taking is highly discouraged and punished
Performance goals are arbitrary
Advice to Senior Management
Leverage your people
Reward risk taking
Figure out what you should be measuring and don't just take the short term consultant view
Pros
The ability to grow as a professional by being allowed to have new experiences and try new things. Fair relationship with immediate supervisors
Cons
Sometimes the work expectations can be unrealistic, but I think that can be said about all major corporate food companies.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work as far as taking a grass roots approach to providing a vision that will carry the company forwasrd
Pros
Plenty of room for career growth...great people
Cons
communication with top management and all levels of junior management
Advice to Senior Management
Be more specific and timely with Marketing roll outs
Pros
Summer hours for 8 months, Reasonable autonomy, Good benefits, Excellent R&D facility, Generally nice people to work with, Training opportunities abound
Cons
Location, location, location; Lack of diversity of product lines; Ability to grow within the company; International opportunities are lacking; and did I mention Location!!!!
Advice to Senior Management
Change is needed in the promotion process that exists for R&D. It is too long and arduous and includes too many people that the candidate has never interacted with on a business level.
Pros
The internship was a great experience, Kellogg i the leading world producer in cereal so your definitely playing in the big leagues. Kellogg is a great resume builder and it they pay there interns very well. They treat you as an employee verses an assistant. They will listen to your ideas and give great feedback. You make great connections and life long friends there.
Great work/life program, as a intern you have holiday and sick time.
Cons
The commute
Very political company
The job can get very repetitive, and sometimes boring but at the end of the day you feel like you accomplished something
Advice to Senior Management
They should really look into getting there interns ready for entry-level positions
Upper-management should keep you in tune with everything going on in the department, sometimes you feel left out since your only a temporary employee
