I worked at Kelly Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people at the local, level. Not much office drama. Everyone works hard and gets along well with each other. Good branding. Everyone knows who Kelly is. No need for "brand name" selling. Their name gets you in the door as a sales person.

    Cons

In its current management regime, Kelly will not keep "A" players in field sales positions. Territory is severely restricted in established markets for their technical sales teams. Large accounts that have already been established are off limits for a sales person. For niche positions in may cities, the viable customer base is limited. Their sales management program has created a "call center" environment. "A" sales people know that not every sales person fits into a cookie cutter metrics system. They expect a lot of telephone time. This is a very old school approach, as many business managers do not communicate via telephone, especially with sales people. Sales rep turnover is rampant in the first 12 months, either voluntary or involuntary.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your field reps. They are in the trenches every day and chances are, they know their market better than someone in an Executive role in Troy, MI. Hire TVPs from within. There is plenty of talent at Kelly looking for promotion opportunities. A bad TVP hire will destroy morale in your branches. Let go of your old school "this is the way its always been" and cookie cutter metrics approach to sales management. Sales people should be measured on results, not whether or not they made 200 phone calls or spoke to 75 people. When you hire professionals, treat them like professionals. They have market intel and chances are, if they have experience, they already know how to sell. Hire people, train them, give them the metrics as a "road map for success" and then let them do their jobs. Allow the sales managers to be coaches, helping each rep find his/her own style and rhythm. If you try to squeeze a sales person into a box, he/she is going to resist and no one makes any money.

I have been working at Kelly Services full-time

    Pros

If you want a long and stable career, this is your place. Great company to learn from. Great career growth opportunities and great recognition programs.

    Cons

Very reactive and not great and retention. small teams adds lots of pressure on individuals. Salaries are lower than industry averages, but it will take a lot for your role to be eliminated if industry changes.

    Advice to Management

Be more aggressive, don't be satisfied with filling a role for the sake of having someone there. Find the best possible people, even if it means eliminating people that have been in the same role for 10+ years.

I worked at Kelly Services part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Quick contact from recruiter, easy to access to job listings on website, pay was on time.

    Cons

Background company does not actually bother verifying your information, instead you will receive requests to provide copies of W-2s, or a copy of your diplomas, etc. You may be promised certain hours but when you report to the site it is drastically different, schedules will not match what you were told before accepting assignments.

    Advice to Management

Make sure there is no difference in what employees are told once they report to the job compared to what you tell the employee when the job is offered to them.
