    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The time is hard for a lot of chemical companies. Kemira treats people well. Though I only work there for a short period, I like the people in my team. All the team members support each other like a big family.

    Cons

High percentage of traveling , global technical support system, and IT support are the downsides. I was frustrated with IT staff a couple of times when dealing with cell phone and notebook. Global expert team may take longer time to provide a much needed help. Pretrial coordination is very important to reach success.

    Advice to Management

Improve the communication and faster supply of chemicals to the fields.

I have been working at Kemira full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great insurance, 401k, great office in a central location.

    Cons

zero management training, promotions are given based on whomever in the department has been with Kemira the longest, not who is qualified. Office moral is alltime low, upper management knows this but does nothing to fix it. The quality employees are leaving on a weekly basis. Bonus is being eliminated, eventhough work is increased.

    Advice to Management

Send ALL managers to a min. of a week-long manament training class. Train how to speak to their employees and encourage them. This should be done once a year and be a manditory activity.

The potential to be a great company is there if leadership would change.

I have been working at Kemira full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good hard working people that actually do the day-to-day work, good benefits, flexibility. Good products and customers.

    Cons

Poor leadership all the way to the CEO. Changes in organizational structure occur too often leading to confusion and poor production.

    Pros

Used to having good culture and good pay. Not any more.

    Cons

The company does not care about its employees. There are no career development plans, employees voices are ignored. Bonus target is so high. It is close to non existing. Some managers in IT are particularly good at micromanagement and creating hostile work culture. HR developed tools to support them. Management is very old fashioned and lacks professionalism and integrity. A high turn over rate. This is a company for relatives and friends. Not for career advancement unless you are related to some bosses.

    Advice to Management

Develop a fair system to promotion and listen to your employees

    Pros

New leadership seems to be refocusing on customers, while also improving employee morale.

    Cons

Still very Eurocentric, more international than truly global.

    Advice to Management

Employee engagement is critical to the success of the business.

I have been working at Kemira as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Kind, friendly supervisors. Good communication between team members. The work is very relaxed with least amount of stress related. Organized structure of company. Good benefits working in Alberta.

    Cons

Not much chance to move up the company due to restricted to head count from the company

I worked at Kemira full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very friendly atmosphere; excellent work/family time balance; easy communication The company is one of the leading producers of polyacrylamide: good range of products with high potential

    Cons

Top management has been buying and selling a large number of companies / business units over the past decade, having a trouble of properly integrating acquired ones: they acquire fixed assets but people and knowledge. Business units structures change every 6 months. Chaos with management and reporting. Very poor safety training No sales training that would be universal for the whole of the company. The company positions itself as a manufacturing rather than sales. International logistics out of USA is very poor.

    Advice to Management

Concentrate on Pulp&Paper and Oil&Mining. If you want to develop in industrial water treatment you need to switch your attention from coagulants/floculants to boiler water treatments where you d have to deal with scale, corrosion, algae etc. Company needs to shift focus towards Sales & Service Company needs to value its employees and trust them
