    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Having water departments as customers makes the business recession-proof. We barely noticed the recession, and kept working, and getting raises the whole time. The company has vast resources, and goes first-class on equipment.

    Cons

Corporate likes uniformity on everything. The corporation is run from "the top down." Local managers don't seem to have much authority to run things their way. There is a lot of bureaucracy. But, it's still a good place to have a career.

    Advice to Management

It would be good to get more input from local managers. Local managers should have authority to develop methods, and solutions specific to their location.

    Pros

The benefits are average, if not slightly below average. That's about the best I can say for them. There are some really great people working there. Too bad they are completely hidden under a catastrophe of a management team.

    Cons

They have had too many executive-level leadership changes in the last couple years. It is hard to keep abreast of your task at hand when it changes every few months, without prior notice. The current leadership does not understand the business they are in which goes to explain why most of their facilities are failing, along with their sales. They have went through 2 presidents, 3 directors, 4 facility managers and half their sales force in a 3 year span. What does that tell you about them?

Any kind of dissent or offering of alternative solutions/opinions is not tolerated, which explains the turnover. It also explains why they are failing badly as a business, because management has a complete inability to listen to anyone underneath them, who actually understand the real problems, nor give them the necessary support to remedy these problems. So when the dominoes fall, they just continue to yell at everyone and keep complaining about the problems that still exist. They are a regulatory violation and/or a loss of a large account away from folding. And it couldn't happen to a better, more deserving group of people.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your employees before you burn the company to the ground. Or at least get out while you still have a career.

    Pros

senoir management appears to have nagigated our company well through the most recent economic downturn. I am hopefull that this was a result of forsight and not dumb luck.

    Cons

The relationship between effort and performance to reward appears not to exist. Most people operate as if this is true and put forth effort towards goals that ARE rewarded. These appear to be blind compliance to management directives even at the detriment of business objectives.

    Advice to Management

Get some backbone. You express privately your disagreement with senior management, but are not willing to take a risk to express an improved path of action if it contradicts senior management. Long term this will strategy will not pay off for any of us.
