I have been working at Kenexa full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great work - life balance.

    Cons

Continuous lay offs. Zero transparency. Low pay and limited upward mobility (including increase of salary) IBM has ruined the culture of Kenexa.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent and communicate with your employees. Stop making promises you can not deliver on.

I have been working at Kenexa full-time

    Pros

The history of the company is great. There are still a number of great people left that helped to make the company great.

    Cons

The culture was lost. IBM has destroyed the company. IBM is concerned with process, rules and ensuring that everyone conforms to their practices. The IBM focus has destroyed the entrepreneurial nature of the company. What has been lost is creativity, customer focus and innovation. As IBM has made these changes the company has continued to shrink. This is both Kenexa and IBM. The IBM culture does not drive innovation, creativity or customer focus. There is more focus on following rules and ensure that you appropriately "salute" hierarchy. Most of the middle managers have gotten where they are because they don't speak up and simply follow rules. Most of them are not real business managers and often don't have a real P&L. They continually re-shuffle the deck chairs and look for a scape goat for the continuing deterioration of the company. Grasping for cloud companies to hide the dismal revenue performance will only push the can down the road so far. Time to return to what made you great and take some risks.

    Advice to Management

Learn to take some risks. Get closer to the customers. Listen to your front line employees. Stop thinking that mobile, social, cloud and analytics are the answer to every question. Build products that work.

    Pros

Working Remotely and the ability to work with people in several different states and countries. IBM training is extensive.

    Cons

Amount of hours required and workload are enormous and unrealistic. Employees have zero work/life balance and unattainable performance metrics as a result.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people and redistribute the workload.

I have been working at Kenexa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work at home options, great people, flexible hours. RPO is still a fun environment to work within and had a rewarding outcome.

    Cons

IBM has ruined the culture kenexa has worked so incredibly hard to build. Almost all of the original leadership has moved on leaving the Uber corporate taste in everyone's mouth.

    Advice to Management

Management news to stand tall and focus on growing employees. IBM managers care about themselves. There is no growth or care from your to grow you into the opportunity. Got a promotion? Congrats! Can you make that a lateral move in salary for 6 months until we can possibly get that increase approved? This is life at IBM.

    Advice to Management

    Get bought by IBM!

I worked at Kenexa full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company was great at first. We could travel freely without much red tape, there was a lot of leadership visibility, a positive work environment, etc.

    Cons

Ever since IBM bought Kenexa, everything changed. Positions weren't being backfilled, there were constant layoff rumors (which became true), and budgets were slashed. IBM said they weren't going to gut the company, but guess what? They did. And they will continue to do so.

    Advice to Management

Don't become too "expensive", or you'll get laid off.
