I worked at Keurig Green Mountain as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

I worked in the Waterbury, VT office for a summer MBA internship and loved the experience. GMCR is an innovative company that encourages new ideas and allows employees to work on things they are passionate about. The work life balance is amazing and the people are great!

    Cons

Not all employees have the strongest drive or work ethic, which can be a bit demotivating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to hire young talent to inject some passion and drive into the organization.

    Pros

Good compensation package. Bonus for entry level employees combination of performance review and company performance, latter of which was always paid out at over 100%

    Cons

Not the best work life balance in certain departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As company gets bigger, don't lose sight of company's original mission. There was much less of a focus on social corporate responsibility when I left compared to when I started. Develop more company wide standard processes. Have a better understand of system limitations and how they effect employees ability to meet deadline and provide managers with meaningful data.

I have been working at Keurig Green Mountain full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunities are better here than in most places. People can have great benefits working for a company like this one.

    Cons

Management is closed off sometimes. Leadership changes may be needed but for the most part, the company is growing and shows promise on the markets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be better communication and organization across the company. This starts with the management.

    Pros

    Innovative Product.
    New Executive Leadership.
Employees that care about the future of the company.

    Cons

New Executive Leadership (if they don't right the ship),
Organizational Health Issues (due to poor execution of org restructures, poor leadership in areas, and a resulting lack of clarity and direction).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get it together, if you really want to keep the good employees. Take the OHI results seriously...no really.
There seems to be a serious disconnect between the values and vision the company thinks it has, vs what is actually happening in day to day operations.

    Pros

Honestly, I am not even sure what the 'Pros' are anymore. The company seems to be in a weird shift, trying to get some grounding, but its still very unclear where we stand as a culture, with our processes and how we are going to handle the core structure of our human resources.

    Cons

Lack of Managerial structure, no clear direction, lack of real decision making. Not sure where this issue stems from but it definitely is having its affect on the culture....or lack of culture as a result. We used to have a robust culture and everyone knew where they stood. Its a shame that many of us have lost faith in the company's organizational structure.

    Pros

Opportunities to move up (If you put the effort)

    Cons

Alot of slackers. And they get away with being that way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Supervisors need to be more interactive with there employees. Not stuck in meetings or in the offices allday.

Former Employee - Mid Level Manager in Waterbury, VT

I worked at Keurig Green Mountain full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work - Life Balance is a corporate focus
Opportunities abound for continuous learning and personal growth
    Great mid level managers

    Cons

Corporate culture varies drastically by location.
Some locations still operate as a mom and pop company
Current Sr and Executive Leadership transitions have created more of a political and territorial agenda.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate all of the corporate assets including the people who have moved across states to assist you in leading and growing this great company.

I have been working at Keurig Green Mountain full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Salary and benefits are very strong for the area (VT state).

    Cons

Company values and culture have gone down the drain as we've grown and top management has changed. Perks such as generous CTO time and time off to volunteer in the community are irrelevant given the workload that prevents their use. The Boston big corp culture has taken over and it is no longer a "VT company."
Good luck getting hired if you don't currently work for a top corporate CPG company. And if you already work for the company, I hope you're happy with your current role because advancement and even lateral moves are nearly impossible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on employee retention because people are starting to burn out and you are losing high quality employees. Those staying are not staying because they love the company; they're staying because there's few other opportunities in VT.
