Pros
Since the merger of the NH and MA offices to a single location, the brain-trust has grown and the opportunities for collaboration is exciting! Everyone contributes and it is very easy to seek out whatever compliance specialist you need to get the job done. The rapid changes occuring in compliance for international trade creating a dual-edge sword. While this creates ample opportunity for the industry, it also provides a heavy work-load.
Cons
Kewill provides very content rich applications that must meet mandatory compliance deadlines. These dead-lines must be met or our customers will either not be able to ship their goods, and/or can be exposed to heavy fines. For that reason there can be times of great stress when it's all-hands-on-deck to meet a deadline.
Advice to Senior Management
keep your eye on work/life balance and take advantage of 'down' time to do team building and have fun!
Pros
Good people with strong skill sets
Cons
Management lacking in several areas.
Sales management has caused the loss of the best sales people. 90% of the sales staff are green and this has had a huge impact on sales. The VP of sales is impossible to work for and cause the loss of a lot of good sales people. This has had a huge impact on the entire company and is really a shame that one person has been allowed to make such a negative impact.
Customer loss has been steady due to product issues. With the loss of current customers and the lack of new customers the company will not remain viable for very long
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on selling and product quality. It has become critical to survival
Pros
Good pay, very flexible with time off for surgeries and other health related issues. Good group of people, good PSG team.
Cons
Products are very weak with no improvement in site. The Development Management team are very non technical and do not understand what it takes to have a stable product. The Flagship product has huge potential but it is very unstable at this point. It makes it very difficult for the Professional Services team to run successful implementations and actually make a decent profit margin.
Advice to Senior Management
Concentrate on product quality, replace DEV leadership from the top down. Time to thin the herd and get a new skill set to deal with product issues.
Pros
Flexibility to work remotely, helpful colleagues and everyone acknowledges and shares the limitations of resources available in a small enterprise. The business vertical is very challenging and interesting to work in.
Cons
Poor mid management, weak senior management, lack of processes, quality issues with products, very hierarchical and bureacratic for a small organization. Lack of recognition for employees, fluctuating priorities on a regulat basis, no resource planning or career development inititatives.
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees, think of the long term plans and not focus on putting off the daily fire. Improve quality of products, focus on customer experience and be open to constructive feedback!!
Pros
Good hard working people. Decent work environment
Cons
Total lack of management skills, this is especially true in the development area. This is the main reason the product set is so unstable. Product function is good but quality is very poor and despite what is being floated around it has not improved much. Until Dev management is replaced the products and customers will continue to suffer.
Advice to Senior Management
Forget the marketing effort until you have something to market. Focus on fixing the products.
Pros
A lot of good people make for a decent work envronment
Cons
Product Quality issues, management is going around in circles trying to Market the company instead of fixing the real problem. Poor quality software. Very powerful products, but very poor quality
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up and address the real issues
Pros
The benefits package is good. The Professional Services Group implementation customers are very diverse enterprise organizations. Working with these multi-national organizations is very interesting and challenging.
Cons
The enterprise shipping solution (Flagship) is still very immature for a product on the market over 4 years. There are plenty of unexpected gotchas in the implementation that are very hard to anticipate, and make the implementation much more challenging than would be expected. The development team was originally in India, which made direct customer interaction and feedback very awkward.
Advice to Senior Management
The Product team is making progress. More QA is required. Professional Services needs attention.
The anticipated merging of the Marlborough and Nashua offices in Chelmsford is being executed in an inflexible and counter productive way.
Pros
Interesting industry (software for the International Trade industry). Friendly co-workers.
Cons
Low pay. Sometimes stressful because of short deadlines, due to the nature of the work (e.g., government-generated changes that have to be reflected in the software, particularly now with security issues concerning cargo and international trade).
Advice to Senior Management
Show part of your recognition for a good job well done with pay increases, not just a pat on the back.
Pros
Kewill is an industry leader, and an international competitor. The benefits packages are excellent. Management recognizes employees when they do well in both meetings and in quarterly updates.
Cons
There aren't really any bonus programs or equity packages. There are limited offices in the US and the information isn't shared across all divisions. Typically meetings only go over what is happening within your corner of the company. Also, there isn't a good balance of work and life. Often, management would require changes in shift on short notice due to staff shortages or issues with weather. Further, since there were staffing issues, the workload was rather large. Plus, there were several seasons that were much busier than others which impacted the time that staff was allowed to take off for vacation; however, the entire company did not follow this policy. This could result in necessary resources not being available during peak times.
Advice to Senior Management
Information should be readily available across all divisions of the corporation.
