I have been working at KeyBank (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits Flexible Work Schedule - work remote capability Enjoy the team I work with very much

    Cons

Extremely slow-moving and bureaucratic Risk averse to the extreme Physical work environment (Higbee Bldg in Cleveland) is the worst I've been exposed to in my 30+ year career in business

    Advice to Management

Start treating people like people instead of an expense line on an income statement. 8 years with KeyBank, and I've personally witnessed many dozens of quality people leave both voluntarily and from layoff. In the rare instance they've been replaced, the quality of the replacement was a step down.

I worked at KeyBank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Benefits, time off policies, co-workers

    Cons

Chaotic, toxic, dysfunctional, ongoing organizational changes and layoffs

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your employees than you do the balance sheet. Focus on reducing expense ratio has resulted in poor morale, dysfunctional work environment, bad reputation as a place to work. Sad to see this company go from a great place to work to a place where no one wants to work.

    Pros

Great benefits - especially vacation and 401K match

    Cons

-Highly political / cut throat. -No clear vision -Constantly switching direction causing workforce to swirl -They make their numbers look great while spending millions of dollars in wasteful development.

    Advice to Management

Regarding Key Values: Practice what you preach. Your words are vapor.

I have been working at KeyBank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Always career opportunities to move around departments; although these opportunities are mostly all lateral moves, it's difficult to move "up" in the company. Decent benefits, 3 weeks vacation to start out. Kind of laid back for a bank, although the corporate culture is a little strange.

    Cons

Low-balled wages/salaries. Denied annual raises and/bonuses even when the company is doing well; this seems to depend on the department you work for. Little to no work-life balance, even though they have the technology to allow more flexibility, this will also depend on the department/manager. Constantly eliminating positions to create smaller staff size, while the work volumes increase. Then expect the higher work volumes to be completed with less staff, while offering no pay increase or bonuses, noting the base rates are a low balled rate to begin with. Terrible for employee morale.

    Advice to Management

Provide more fair pay and better work life balance.

I worked at KeyBank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, great exposure to banking and capital markets.

    Cons

High turn-over and long hours. Management is taking outsourcing initiatives too far. Senior staff is very talented but over-worked while management negotiates risks all day. New hire training was non-existent.

    Advice to Management

Train properly and invest in your employees, show everyone they're valued. Focus on mitigating risks, not solely outsourcing or renegotiating amongst business line management.

I have been working at KeyBank full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

KeyBank is a great company for anyone working in the Banking industry. The Benefits are are far by the best I have seen and heard of even starting as a New Employee. There are some great team members and mentors available. Depending which department you work, there is different sorts of flexibility for the employees. Also, as an investor it's a great bank to invest in.

    Cons

Biggest Issue is Communication. With the way the economy is layoffs are going on left and right. But they don't communicate this to the employees properly. Second biggest is the HR. HR is horrible at KeyBank, specially for the internal employees. They never respond. However, as an external candidate they put you on top priority list. There is a real sour taste and the atmosphere is very worrisome as employees don't know what's going to happen next week.

    Advice to Management

Change the way you communicate to your employees and inform them of what's happening in the company. Most of the times, they find out from folks outside of the company. And please value your employees. You are loosing and letting go of all your quality employees. Trying to cut cost doesn't mean letting them go.
