I have been working at Keynote Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, great product, receptive leaders and opportunities to make an impact.

    Cons

A lot of change which can be distracting. The changes are good ones, though.

    Advice to Management

New members of the management team are doing a great job promoting an energetic and dynamic culture. Employees are being treated very well and everyone has a voice. The teams are ready for more great improvements it so let's keep pushing.

I have been working at Keynote Systems full-time

    Pros

Great fresh energy, great products, great people. Things have dramatically changed here since the company was taken private back in August. New management has brought a new level of excitement and rigor that was much needed. This feels like a top notch high tech firm once again. This is going to be a fun ride.

    Cons

Everything that could be a "con" is in the past.

    Advice to Management

Keep your foot on the gas pedal! Things are changing for the better every day.

I have been working at Keynote Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Much needed changes are being rolled out. Some fast...some not fast enough...mostly all good. Big focus on innovation, new technologies, and collaboration internally and directly with customers. More attention and engagement from new executive team with the rest of the company. Keynote is a fun place to work again and the positive energy is flowing!

    Cons

Lots of change = lots of work! This is mostly felt with the management and internal business support teams. Some groups feel more understaffed than others.

    Advice to Management

Keep the pace going...don't be afraid to take risks in the market and internally. Trust your teams and those who have been with the company for awhile while we pursue new directions. Keep making Keynote a fun place to work...so far, so good.

I have been working at Keynote Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a real emphasis on collaboration between employees. People work hard but management realizes that vacations and time off are also very important. The San Mateo office space was remodeled so that it is a brighter and more open work environment.

    Cons

The changes brought on by switching from a public to a privately held company has caused a fair amount of turnover. This can be unsettling when co-workers who are ofter friends leave the company.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that every employee has a transparent work growth plan.

I have been working at Keynote Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture developing. Everyone from execs to individual contributors are looking out for their customers. Innovation is back big time. Lots of new faces that are thrilled to be here and veterans appear reinvigorated.

    Cons

Compensation could be better but still above average. Back office systems are mostly a mess. Lots of time spent on manual processes.

    Advice to Management

Stay engaged with customers. Update systems. Build processes.

    Pros

The company leadership is engaged, smart, hard-working and has a real vision. Teams are working together in ways they never used to. The energy is building bigtime. One great team...one huge opportunity! Innovation is back and Keynote is headed in the right direction.

    Cons

There are always thing that need to improve and some processes that are critical path need to be simplified and optimized. We could use more technical field and customer facing resources to take advantage of the opportunity that's within sight.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing! All the malcontents and dead wood are gone, existing folks are getting new opportunities, and new team members are bringing great market perspective.

I have been working at Keynote Systems full-time

    Pros

The business is moving in the right direction and building momentum. Everyone's voice is heard and ideas from all employees are welcome. If you want to work at a place where you can make a difference, this is the place. The new management team has created an energetic, collaborative environment and created an exciting vision for the future of the company and its value proposition for its customers.

    Cons

There are so many areas that can be improved that the list can seem endless. Although it is a profitable company, it can be difficult to recruit in the Bay Area when competing against venture-backed companies.

    Advice to Management

Keep going in the path you are on. Continue to engage the wider employee population in company initiatives and you will continue to build the excitement that has been growing in the past year.

Keynote under new management in 2013 and has infused new energy and excitement into the company.

    Cons

All the big changes can get overwhelming.

    Advice to Management

The company is headed in the right direction, but do not overlook the details when changing the bigger picture.

    Pros

Keynote is a great company with 20 years of history and a vibrant visionary CEO in Jennifer Tejada. In the last 18 months the company has reinvented itself, and has launched a new product and category focused on helping customers make sense of performance data. While it has not been easy, I have learned more in the last 18 months then I did in the last 5 years. Leaders care about customers and people, and there are plenty of interesting products and technologies to work on.

    Cons

Keynote is private equity owned so there is a focus on earnings and costs are tightly managed. The company is being merged with Dynatrace so more change is coming.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. The transparency and customer focus is refreshing. Consider increasing salaries.

    Pros

Well known name in the Internet / Managed Services space.

    Cons

Continual layoffs happening at the same time other depts were hiring. Rolling layoff machine as each new dept. head came in and tried his hand.

    Advice to Management

    Stop bullshitting employees.
