I worked at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Many opportunities to learn
    - CEO has many initiatives that helped to improve the overall experience working at KTPH
    - Doesn't feel like working in an office, a very green place to work in, there's a GYM as well

    Cons

    - None, work was pleasant during the short-term of work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - CEO has many initiatives, some good some not so good, but he is willing to hear from employees
    - Change isn't easy, but with great leadership on change management, processes get improved through transition and improve overall efficiency

I worked at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital

    Pros

nice greenery, peaceful environment, spacious and clean

    Cons

no proper office, lack of guidance from direct supervisor, lots of politics amongst colleagues, unwilling to share information, too many emails sent daily that has no positive impact on workload

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to be so corporate, more effort in guiding newcomers

  3.

Customer/patient-oriented, understaffed, low pay, hardware but little "software"

I worked at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Opportunities to grow for juniors (take on more responsibility/workload) - also a con

Nice working environment (award winning infrastructure)

    Cons

    - Too much emphasis on patient satisfaction survey, resulting in a general impression of running a business rather than focusing on actual patient healthcare

    - Few seniors to guide the juniors along due to poor retention of senior staff as pay is not as competitive compared to other hospitals

    - My experience working there was...it seemed like a haphazard place where all juniors ran the show

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the ground staff, offer competitive salaries (not just the doctors), ensure staff are well trained and equiped with the necessary knowledge to serve patients

    Pros

Health Promoting Hospital. Free use of gym and many actvities at subsidized rate after work.

    Cons

Sometimes quite stressful as bosses are quite demanding (which can be listed as pros as well). Depends on how well you can cope.

I have been working at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic green environment which is quite calming and enjoyable to work in. Friendly coworkers who would take time to assist you! I liked the policy that encourages self improvement and that they took inspiration from the toyota production system and applied it to healthcare.

    Cons

Supervision is somewhat lacking from seniors because they may be overwhelmed by other tasks. Very much 'patient-orientated' and sometimes staff welfare may feel a little overlooked/neglected.

Current Employee - Radiographer in Singapore (Singapore)

I have been working at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Radiology department is pretty friendly, as a young radiographer in the profession, I was mentored kindly my senior radiographers and given enough time to mature and grow.

    Cons

Be prepared to share their organisation focus on patients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The best strategic drive now is to venture out and learn from hospitals around the globe some of their best practices and housekeeping. It is imperative for our young organisation to send groups comprising of professionals at all levels to other hospitals reowned at a international level to learn from them.

Former Contractor - Administrative Assistant in Singapore (Singapore)

I worked at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful work environment, beautiful garden-like surroundings, professional colleagues with great work ethics and office culture. Decent pay for a temp job. A long-term employee who applies directly, not through a job agency, gets much higher pay.

    Cons

Bosses have high expectations in terms of motivation, attention to detail and work ethic, which is a fair trade for being treated well. Bosses may also expect overtime work.
