According to a recent employee survey 97% of employees said they plan to spend their careers at Kichler-that is an awesome number. I agree with the previous review-great people and very good benefits. The culture is a mix of customer focused, teamwork, resourcefulness, laid back & family.

I have been working at Kichler Lighting

    Pros

Mr. Sam Minoff, If you truly want to learn the lighting business this is the person to learn it from.
Convenient location to east, west and south side of Cleveland for commuters.

    Cons

The place is supervised sorely on longevity- the good are gone and only the bad who have to stay are left.
Managers, supervisors and engineers are often promoted for the wrong reasons, such as a engineering manager that was a graphics clerk and pushed through the system based on nepotism not ability or knowledge.

If you were to do a general review of the employees credentials from engineer, management, director, VP to CEO you would find them if not sorely missing but lacking in creditability.
The head of HR is just an embarrassment to all.
The president of the company runs the place as if it's a shoe factory in the Victorian era.
There isn't any team work, effort or loyalty due to fear, intimidation and layoffs.

The problems start from the top down, a reason they can not retain talent on any level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

owner(s): You can do better if really wanted to and placed it as a priority.
Stop forgetting your staff, thank them with your loyalty and real financial compensation.

Stay clear unless you can deal with ingrained nepotism.

    I worked at Kichler Lighting

    Pros

International focus. Regular employees competent and fun to work with. Some managers are good but most are poor at best. Of course I think that much if this stems from the president.

    Cons

Amazng nepotism. They keep bad employees and force good ones out. Make sure that you do not speak your mind. Management prefers a good perception and facade rather than dealing win truth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Professionalize the last components that néed to be done. Support your employees and provide for succession planning and training.
