Advice to Senior Management
Communicated effectively to all your workers and give them time to do things.
Pros

can't think of much more
can't think of much more
can't think of much more
Cons
Too many bosses.
None of the bosses are on the same page.
Horrible communication from management to management from management to employees.
Management has no idea what they are doing.....Could y'all send down some help
They tell you to work safe but expect you to do whatever you have to do to get the job done.
They are not concerned about you as a person...you're a number
They changed our vacation/sick leave with only a few days left in the year so the employees had no time to react......after telling us all year not to use our sick time or risk being fired they took it all from us at the end of the year....THIEVES!
Oh.....and HR never has any idea about anything
Advice to Senior Management
Could y'all send down some help please? Unless this is just the "kiewit way" .....if that's the case then I'm out!
Pros
Large projects
Decent pay right out of college (better than 90% of my CE classmates)
Travel opportunities
Passionate co workers
Time flies
Learn more facets of the industry faster and more thorough than anywhere else
Cons
Overworked, don't even think about your hourly pay you'll cry
Cliques
The Kiewit culture is a little overwhelming at first but you get brainwashed quickly
Advice to Senior Management
So far good job, managers I've seen are willing to put in the time with you and mostly have valuable advice
Pros
- Good pay
- Interesting jobs
- Always busy
- Lots of opportunity
- Great people
Cons
- Very hard work
- Long hours
- Disorganized at times
- No work-life balance
Advice to Senior Management
We need a better work-life balance. There is a high turnover rate because of people not acheiving this balance. I am very happy with the communication between the employees and upper management and they have always been approachable for issues that may come up.
Pros
- Great pay and benefits
- Great co-workers
- Challenging
- Fast paced
- Rewarding
Cons
- To many bosses: At the job site I worked at there were 3 business managers in charge of 3 hourly employees. It seemed a little much to have to check with 3 different people to get a problem handled.
- Defined by education- Unless you had a college degree there was no room to advance. It didn't matter how well you preformed your job or how much responsibility you took on.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't automatically put Business Managers in the position to be bosses when they are straight out of college. Most of them have very little on the job experience and end up having to be trained by the hourly employees.
Based promotions and job titles on over all experience and performance, not just education.
Pros
Many standards to develop their projects quick and cheaply.
Cons
There were too many bosses.
Pros
Great opportunities if you can put up with all the political bullsh*t
Plenty of districs to choose from with a wide range of industries to work in
Cons
Long hours, working every weekend
Little pay compaired to other companies
The Golden Handcuffs- promises of stock and advancement all you need is a little more time
"it is what it is"
Thats just the way we do things at Kiewit....
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up and realize you have to take care of your employees. You cant work them to the bone on empty promises and a chance to get stock. If you look at the structure, the only people working here are "the good o'le boys and recent graduates. There is a reason why there is little to no middle management.
Pros
Very successful hard working company.
Cons
control is tightly held by the good ol boys. Not from a "boys" perspective, but if you don't come in as a engineer and work on construction projects your contribution and control will be limited.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to evalve into a company that appreciates talents and not just those that are gained and deomonstrated in the field.
Pros
There is the opportunity for growth, and if you stay for your whole carrer, you can make alot of money.
Cons
You work alot and do not have much of a life.
Advice to Senior Management
Dont micromanage so much, and treat people with more respect.
