I worked at Kiewit Corporation as an intern

    Pros

    1) An immense amount of experience from seasoned professionals; 2) Learning the ability to collaborate and effectively work within a team setting; 3) Introduction to new software as well as the training to use said software; and 4) Consistent aid and advice from upper management.

    Cons

The only con I experienced at Kiewit was getting quick help for questions I could not answer. However, I feel this was a test to see the ability of individual problem solving and to see if we could work through the problems ourselves so we could better learn how to work within the system.

    Pros

Highly respected company with many opportunities for those willing to seize them. Smart and talented people are rewarded with responsibility and good pay.

    Cons

Kiewit is a machine powered by complicated systems and paperwork. Be prepared to wear many hats - Engineer, accountant, manager, laborer, janitor, and computer technician to name a few.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are your biggest and only true asset. All of the systems in the world are useless without people to run them.

I have been working at Kiewit Corporation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent opportunities to grow if you are capable of handling the responsibility. Great compensation and benefits. A company truly in it for the long haul.

    Cons

While the construction side of the house is very mature (>100 years) and experienced, some other parts of the company are immature and in need of growth (accounting, IT, security, etc)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep growing the company and don't be afraid to expand into areas outside strictly construction and contracting.
