I worked at Kilpatrick Stockton full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I am a senior associate. KTS gives associates a great deal of autonomy. We are allowed and encouraged to speak directly with clients, unlike other firms that shield associates from clients. The firm is very transparent about efforts to obtain new clients, and pitches for new work. This is unlike other firms I've worked at, where associates are kept in the dark about where new work will come from (which can be scary). KTS has large, good clients that are exciting to work for. Case teams are kept small, which increases efficiency. The mandatory pro bono requirement gives an opportunity to really make a difference, and get great court room experience. The firm stresses "real life" training, such as NITA deposition courses, which is nice.

    Cons

Post-merger, the firm is large and it can be challenging to communicate effectively through offices. (A problem likely shared by all large law firms.) In a case team, roles are often assigned early and are kept separated, such that it can be difficult to obtain a range of experience and skill sets. There is a lot of work, which can lead to a high number of hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more junior associates. Do not make the team roles so segmented, such that associates get experience doing a range of things.

    Pros

The benefits and people that work here are great. Tries to jump start new initiatives to make job experience better.

    Cons

There needs to be more promotional opportunities for staff. As people gain education and skills, there should be more efforts to keep those people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work with the people who are currently placing their trust in you. Offer more training, benefits and promotion.

I worked at Kilpatrick Stockton full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Management doesnt expect a lot out of you, free tea and water.

    Cons

Terrible management, low salary. They are hiring attorneys like crazy but are not hiring support so folks are expected to take on more work. The bonus was insulting as was the yearly raise. Very cheap company with high turnover rates. Would not recommend to anyone. Lots of politics and meeting that are not useful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

they really need to focus on training and removing some of the terrible middle managers, promote people within.

    Pros

None. Can't think of one pro to this firm. If you want highschool drama, this is the place. If you don't care about clients, this is the place. If you want to be harassed, this is the place.

    Cons

Everything about KTS is a negative. I really don't know how they are still in business. Poor client morale, poor treatment to other employees, harassment, micro management, lack of training and education regarding new laws.

    Pros

Smart, personable people from attorneys to staff for the most part. Collegial atmosphere and high level of sophisticated substantive work for attorneys. Great firm culture which seems to be quite a bit better than the firms I worked at in NYC.

    Cons

Difficult path to partnership in many practice groups. Unexpected deadlines that can create long hours. Not well known for generous bonuses.

I worked at Kilpatrick Stockton full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Gained a ton of good experience working with some of the best attorneys, litigation support specialist, and outsourcing vendors. As a premier law firm, support staff have access to the best legal software and resources available. Great perks and benefits

    Cons

Promotion opportunities and raises are not fairly distributed. You have to be highly favored to see fair salary increases as a support staff.

I have been working at Kilpatrick Stockton

    Pros

Hard working for our customers. Number one preveyor of services in an industry that expects only the best and will only expect the best from Kilpatrick Stockton

    Cons

You hit the road running with no time for error or misjudgement. That's both a con but at Kilpatrick it's also a plus. It provides the opportunity to show our customers our expertise and talent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I like challenges and the ability to work closely with the customer base in a leadership role. Healthwise I have my own medical plan. I would like a company car before I begin. I would like to discuss promotion and salary.
