It is great to work in an environment that seeks improvements which will serve the best interest of the company, as well as the employee. They live what they publish as values & vision, open to listen & seek the best methods to create alignment & opportunity.

    ConsKimball will be well served by continuing to improve in the areas of timely response to the needs of the business with an appropriate level of urgency. With the understanding that perfection is an unattainable goal, it is difficult to pinpoint an area of complete failure for Kimball.

    Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to pursue the paths of continuous improvement & openness in regards to what matters most to your employees. The expression of appreciation & support when warranted, coupled with earned financial reward are powerful statements.

    Feels great when all the efforts begin to pay off

    ProsContinually improving in every area you can think of
    Management's way of treating everyone with respect, all situations are considered and different options are provided to help employees in any way they can

    ConsSome employees just don't care - management has done a good job of removing most of these people but there are a few left that think the place owes them something
    For a couple of years the bonys plan didn't pay well - finally the plan is paying high percentages and headquarters is committed to making sure bonuses stay high

    Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to remove those people that are negative cancer grows fast. People should be thankful to have a job

    Oppressive

    Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Current Employee)

    ProsJob is in Florida which has no State income taxes. Although this does not come close to compensating for the extremely low salaries at this company

    ConsVery weak salaries and benefits package. Promise of bonuses do not come true due to cost structure caused when Kimball purchased Reptron and revalued all the outdated equipment. Long hours required of salaried staff, without compensation. Equipment is old and outdated and provides difficulty when trying to meet quality requirements of the customer. This company wants to compete with the big boys (e.g. Flex, celestica, plexus, jabil, foxconn), but they never will. They can't provide the service level of the larger EMS providers so they have to work their employees like dogs to meet a lower price level. Customer base is the scraps the big players in the industry do not want. You will never see HP, Apple, IBM, Cisco, GE Medical, Siemans, Phillips, or other large companies use Kimball as an EMS provider.

    Advice to Senior ManagementSell out to larger company, you can't compete in this business.

    Good company with room to grow

    ProsIt is never a dull day. For those that want more than just punching a time clock and putting in your time, this is the place to be. Good growth strategy. Everyone is friendly and seems to want to achieve the goals set. Turnover is very low.

    ConsBenefits are average. Some individuals could be better qualified for their positions. Jasper is not the most welcoming to newcomers. This isn't necessarily something Kimball can fix, but it does factor into your decision to re-locate here.

    Advice to Senior ManagementFind the right talent for key positions and don't settle. Look at the current bonus program and re-scale it to better reward those plants that are performing.

    Not very employee friendly.

    ProsFor the most part they have steady and reasonable work hours. Also fairly good vacation time. Currently they are trying to address some of the issues that have plagued this company for awhile.

    ConsMorale at this facility is at rock bottom. They haven't given raises in years, not even small cost of living raises. Employees are constantly being asked to take on more and more work without compensation to match. Before Kimball Inc. took over this company, we had free coffee, now replaced by a machine that doesn't work half the time. We used to get an extra 15 minutes for lunch once a month. That has been taken away We used to get 2 brakes and lunch. They took away one of the brakes. We used to have once a month birthday parties for all employees whose birthday fell within that month. That too has been eliminated by management and HR's attitude towards employees.

    Advice to Senior ManagementEmployee morale needs a boost in a big way. Give us something to show that we are appreciated even if it's just coming out on the the manufacturing floor and going around and letting people know that they are doing a good job. Not just coming out and berating folks when things don't go your way.
