Pros
Work/Life balance acceptable. Friendly people to work with
Cons
Short term results over long term goals
Pros
Relatively strong company in a fairly steady industry. They have been around a long time and have many capable employees in a good community (Neenah, WI headquarters). Good people with whom I've worked.
Cons
Hierarchy. No one in upper management cares to ask ot listen to employees. There is too much red tape and lack of communication between departments which have become more and more separated over the years.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen more to your lower-level employees. There are many great ideas and opportunities that could be provided if upper management were willing to listen.
Pros
The pay, flexiblity and benefits are up to par.
Cons
lack of consistency and fairness, poor HR practices - very inconsistent, lack of training & development. Always cost-cutting, always a financial crisis. Very traditional and rigid.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more clear and direct about expectations. There are lots of contradictions.
Pros
It has a good corporate stewardship.
Cons
Front line managers are screwed.
Advice to Senior Management
Weed out managers with high turn-over rate because employees don't normally leave the company. It's the management that they have to work directly that did not live up to the company's vision and strategy.
Pros
The projects were interesting. There was also plenty of opportunity to change positions within the plant which kept me challenged.
Cons
The management does not recognize employees for their hard work. Credit is not given where it is due. The good ole boy network!
Pros
The environment is very good
Cons
Artificial relations are growing fast
Pros
If you are lucky, you may get a comparable pay.
A few well-known brands.
Depending on your department you may get some reasonable work-life balance.
Cons
Great example of a passive-aggressive culture, where it’s all about survival at any cost.
You’re on your own when it comes to career development; absolutely no company support. Constant cost cutting seems to be the only way to manage the business.
Very few to no promotional opportunities; career development rotations ceased to exist about 4 years ago.
Notion of employee motivation doesn’t exist.
Obsolete performance management system, where people are managed by fear of getting a low rating at the end of the year.
Advice to Senior Management
What’s the point, they never listen anyway. In fact, run it into the ground faster, so someone could come in and bring it back to fame.
Pros
As our management is so fond of saying; " you should be glad you still have a job". I suppose I should.
A pay check when one is needed.
The production workers and some of the engineers are excellent to work with.
Cons
Economic excuses used to rob from the workers and give to the management.
Unrealistic projections used to rob from the workers.
Quota based evaluation system.
Excessive length of time to reach top out pay.
Too many roadblocks to prevent employees from reaching top out pay.
Management constantly changing rules and regulations based on their own perceptions.
Loss of high involvement team organization.
Most decisions made or forced by management.
Advice to Senior Management
Do not lie to your employees, for they are not as dumb as you would like to believe.
Threats of job security have become old.
Treat your employees as you have rewarded yourselves.
Give our customers the value they deserve.
Pros
Global company with a strong career growth potential. Opportunity to gain knowledge and work with some of the best individuals in their respective fields.
Cons
Difficult to gain and receive recognition. Difficult to introduce innovative ideas and a fresh perspective into the company. Lack of cross-training.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide open and honest feedback continously. Listen to the needs of your staff. Follow through providing opportunities for growth and if the role's responsibilities change then need to realign the role/benefits.
Pros
-- Good salary but no bonuses
-- Work/Life balance exits - Most people have kids and take off at 5 or so.
-- Very nice team atmosphere
-- Management recognizes people when they do a good job (at least I have seen that in my case)
Cons
-- Too many processess and things take a long time to get done
-- Too many meetings and most of them are not productive. We have guidlines in the meeting room that say "dont email during meetings" but no one adheres to is because we have meetings all the time and we have NO time to actually work or respond to emails.
-- Dont have international career opportunities in marketing as much as we'd like.
-- Location is not the best (neenah is 2.5 hours north from Milwaukee) -- not much to do
Advice to Senior Management
-- Invest in better proceses that talk to one another instead of in silos.
