I have been working at Kinder Morgan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Salary, benefits and bonus structure, 9-80 schedule, interesting and at times fascinating work environment, talented and motivated co-workers (about ten percent)

    Cons

Management is totally top-down and myopic. There are very few training opportunities. There is not a "team" mentality, one group gets pitted against another. Communication between groups within my business unit is non-existent.

    Advice to Management

It would be pointless to offer advice to this group because they already know everything, even though they've never really done much.

I have been working at Kinder Morgan full-time

    Pros

Pay, time off, benefits, Kinder Morgan is a good company with good growth in the energy industry.

    Cons

Pay lower than industry, promotions are slow. Some departments are stuck in outdated ideas and processes. The company could use some youth and innovation.

I worked at Kinder Morgan full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a paycheck and gave me a place to work while I was searching for better employment.

    Cons

The terminal is so out dated it not funny. They loved to hire there friends uneducated kids. They preach safety, but will target you if you have valid concerns. You are always exposed to the weather.

    Advice to Management

Start all over again before someone gets hurt.

I have been working at Kinder Morgan full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Kinder Morgan has great benefits and excellent exposure to other areas of the business. It is a fast paced and growing company.

    Cons

Kinder Morgan could improve its career development and placement tracks. To move up, you need to be more proactive and look for jobs on your own.

    Advice to Management

It would be good to continue to develop employees and place them on advanced career paths. Having more available tuition reimbursement options would be a great benefit.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    Great exposure to the industry.

    Cons

Heavy workload compared to partners we collaborate with daily (other controllers at other facilities). Average pay compared to ship channel with significantly heavier workload. Management doesn't look out for advancing our careers. They just want to keep the consoles staffed and not have to hire anyone for 30 years. Expressing any advancement is shot down very quickly.

    Advice to Management

The job is understood to be stressful, don't make it worse by being rude, disrespectful and unprofessional to your employees. This happens daily which explains turnover.

I have been working at Kinder Morgan full-time

    Pros

The Company's fee structure has insulated it from the up and down oil prices. You will be able to keep your job here.

    Cons

Kinder Morgan runs very lean and expects a lot from its employees. They do reward hard work with advancement and bonuses.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Good aquisitions and expansions on the horizon. If only the environmentalists would get out of the way.
