I have been working at Kinder Morgan full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fast pace, hands on, run lean so you get a lot of experience fast

    Cons

Culture of blame, low pay, never off the clock.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees

I worked at Kinder Morgan (Less than a year)

    Pros

Intelligent co-workers. Interesting projects...until they got canceled.

    Cons

Try to do everything "on the cheap". Too much turnover for continuity in business segments. Lip service to values...especially safety issues.

    Advice to Management

Lack of effective communication from management needs to be improved.

I worked at Kinder Morgan full-time

    Pros

used to be a place where hard work and ethics were rewarded; with some serious change in management in the recent years this culture is gone

    Cons

middle management is at time useless, lacks accountability; nepotism, hiring friends or like blabbers; hard working people with less of these skills targeted as scape goats. I had seen middle to senor managers who had the math skills of a toddler, but were more than capable to write mile long unfavorable reviews for imaginary issues

    Advice to Management

start hiring based on work abilities and ethics, not talk; at the end of the day somebody got to get something done

I worked at Kinder Morgan full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great for outside work, with little supervision.

    Cons

I have always been brought up to understand that if, you can not say something nice. Then say nothing at all ! I was not happy with this place, or the way it was run.

I worked at Kinder Morgan full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Exposure to several facets of the midstream energy industry, great vision at the corporate level, lots of opportunities, decent salaries, easy to rise above the rest.

    Cons

Bottom line: The C.O.O. needs to be replaced and the leadership needs to tell the employees the truth: come to work on time, do your job, don't get hurt, and we'll pay you. Don't make promises you can't keep or intend to keep for that matter. The organization is extremely silo'd and everyone has their own kingdoms. I'm surprised the company is as profitable as it is with all the in-fighting that occurs on a regular basis. The talent pool is horrendous and nobody wants to hold anyone accountable for their actions consistently.

    Advice to Management

Make the right changes in upper management if you want to keep any talent around in the company. Modify or get rid of the SQE program and make it applicable to how we're truly going to operate. Maintain the flexibility and responsiveness that our business was known for.

    Pros

A lot of exposure to daily operations, incidents, meetings, customers, etc.

    Cons

Not enough structure to consider it a thorough program.

    Advice to Management

It was a very beneficial experience but could benefit from more structure or have an assignment to turn in or present at the end.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

One main plus, is they demonstrated a genuine concern for safe work practices as well as production.

    Cons

The Co., had to meet the demands of the economy, so the employees had to make adjustments sometimes before they were ready.

    Advice to Management

Communicate everything allowed, to everyone, on every level, as often as possible.

Career growth is capped at a certain level until more time is spent with company

    Advice to Management

Allow the good employees to continue to grow or else they will leave.
