I worked at Kindred Healthcare full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Family oriented team that truly care about the outcome of their patients.

    Cons

There were few set processes. Employees weren't held accountable for following the processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Impliment better processes and hold employees accountable for their actions.

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good people and a good culture mix. Hard working people with a lot going on especially with the transplant patients.

    Cons

I have some good days but most of the time management allows non-productive things to go on and it stifles the patients progress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow some balls and take care of the patients first!

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare

    Pros

The HSA is easy to use and coworkers are very hard working.

    Cons

Intentionally very short staffed, equipment (vital sign machines, glucometers, computers in which to document) in short supply. Computers are in every room but have been kept out of commission making it impossible to document in real time. Assessments and medication administration must be entered at the front desk computer when there is one available. Care plans from other disciplines have to be completed by the nurses and it is impossible to know what tasks were completed. No electronic narcotic medication station. Narcotics are counted and remediated by hand. All administered narcotics documentation is printed as are the kardexes and MARs every shift. Too many opportunities for errors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the nurses at the bedside. What's good for them is good for patients. Making the nurse's jobs impossible to do well is not good business practice. Protecting and padding the bottomline today will not pay for potential litigation tomorrow.

    I worked at Kindred Healthcare

    Pros

Stable well established company that is a leader in the industy.

    Cons

A lot of top down pressure to perform at a certain level but limited resources with which to meet the company's expectations. I was expected to work a lot more hours here than I did in similar positions at previous employers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more training for this position. It is one of the most important jobs in the building.
