I have been working at King Soopers full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Co workers are awesome, direct managers are usually pretty laid back.

    Cons

Zero work life balance, I often go to work at midnight and leave at 11 am. "best practices" goals are impossible to reach seeing as the night crew is always understaffed. the truck loads are GIGANTIC more often then not, causing backstock to be ridiculous for GHC load nights or backstock nights. upper management is unsupportive and extremely negative in the outlook for the night crew employees. Being so understaffed the 7 of us on the night crew often get forced into overtime, and then promptly get screamed at by our store manager and have our jobs threatened on a regular basis. in my opinion $10/hr is definitely not worth losing my entire social life and having no energy to even enjoy my 1 day off a week (if I'm lucky)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay your employees accordingly, we all work very hard to uphold standards, please keep them realistic and quit trying to intimidate your staff, it will only draw them away from the company.

I have been working at King Soopers full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company values, good benefits, employee discounts, opportunities for advancement, good work-life balance, willing to train, safe work environment.

    Cons

High turnover, not enough positive leadership, take focus off tasks and actually make customers number one priority, equipment is not adequate enough to complete job tasks, too much favoritism, double standards, non-management pay could be better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take more time to get to know employees and asking about the struggles and boundaries they face on the job, hold all employees to the same standards,

    I worked at King Soopers

    Pros

The job Started a dollar more than the entry level bagger that I was hired for. Was able to start 2 days later.

    Cons

I was giving no training on the terminology that the overnight crew used when being told what to do. I was never told anything positive by my boss who seemed to be hung over all the time. I even got strange text on facebook from him on my days off. After having a medical emergency and in an ER one night in my first 30 days, even with a doctor note I was written up in my probation period. First 30days. Because of the written up the following week my mother past away and I was not allowed to take time for her in the hospital her last days so I walked away

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care more about people and think you would get more out of someone if everything you said was not negative

I worked at King Soopers full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

EXCELLENT training program by Murray's cheese staff. Their thoroughness with cheese basics, cutting, care, wrapping, Murray's history, salesmanship, merchandising, cheese pairings and cheese lore certainly makes new employees not only feel special, but more confident in their ability to perform right out of the gate. Murray's red chef jackets are earned by employees that have successfully passed an examination based upon their training modules.

    Cons

Employees are required to taste and assess many cheeses per day. Lactose intolerant and/or vegan applicants/employees may feel uncomfortable and/or unable to comply with this protocol.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

GREAT opportunities to change locations and/or be considered for promotions. With Murray's expansion within King Soopers, Kroger, QFC, Fred Myer and Ralphs, this allows for a multitude of options/openings within their system.
