Behind the curve and lacks strategy

I have been working at Kingfisher as a contractor

ProsLots of contractor opportunities. Some managers are flexible and understanding. Good range of benefits, including B&Q discount, Share Save scheme, pension, private medical and performance-based bonus. On-site parking.

ConsJobs threatened by overseas outsourcing. Unclear vision from senior management. Poor processes and procedures with undocumented policies. Unwillingness to change. "Put up or shut up" mentality.

Staff have a "can't be bothered" attitude, and while new joiners feel there's room for improvement, they soon stop caring and conform because things appear to never change. The long standing response to any suggestions for improvement are "we don't have the resource for that". "Resource" meaning man power.

The good culture and values brought across from B&Q have been completed lost. Internal communication is poor. No events are arranged to engage employees with what is happening in the Kingfisher Group, at other UK operating companies or in KITS. This is in stark contrast to B&Q events in the same building which are very engaging.

Advice to Senior ManagementKITS needs to fundamentally improve in almost all areas. There needs to be far better communication and clearer vision from the top down. Somehow, you need to get people to care. Good people leave because they're not engaged and those that stay are not doing their best work.
