I worked at Kingston Technology full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Global computer memory giant with great benefit package. Family environment. private held company

    Cons

It is generally known at Kingston that the employee make below average pay. However, management compensates this with bi-annual bonuses and 401K contribution matching

I worked at Kingston Technology full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    * Not much micromanaging
    * Believe in compensating it's employees -- the founders built a culture that rewards good work, but that has changed in the last few years
    * A revenue machine that will continue to steam on even if the sum of it's parts aren't operating optimally

    Cons

    * Nepotism within organization and a lot of connected relationships (good and bad)
    * Many people have been there forever and are resistent to change

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a more strategic approach -- the business has been commoditized, but there are areas of opportunity to counter that trend.

I worked at Kingston Technology full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good benefit
CEOs are often in the office with the employees
    Structural, efficient system
    Diversity in the workplace
    Small Gym with fitness classes

    Cons

Middle Management on the sales side (directors, VPs) are often engaged in questionable practices that their subordinates either have to ignore or comply. They are known to juice the system and give preferential treatment to those that do not raise any questions.
Turn-over is not high because incompetent employees do not get let go most of the times.
Not up to date with the current trend and technologies
Flat system with little room for career advancement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let go of the incompetent employees and maybe the company will thrive again
When discussing about an issue or conflict, always get both parties present so there will be no dancing around therefore wasting valuable time

I have been working at Kingston Technology full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Kingston has always been very good to their employees. No official pension plan, but 401K is one of the best in the industry. Benefits are awesome also, with little out of the employees' pockets each paycheck.

    Cons

Growth potential in some departments may not be the best. I think it depends on which department you work in and who you work for.

I have been working at Kingston Technology full-time

    Pros

The company gives you lots of opportunity to grow and learn. Roles and responsibilities can shift quite frequently which gives plenty of opportunity to take on new responsibility. Benefits are a huge plus at Kingston, they're not the best but they're pretty good and relatively cheap.

    Cons

From an industry perspective the pay is low all around. They try to compensate for it with profit sharing on top of a low base salary. But unfortunately the base salary doesn't really go up much even with new responsibility.

I have been working at Kingston Technology

    Pros

    - Benefit: full insurance for you and family
    - casual environment
    - friendly people
    - Caring CEO - John Tu

    Cons

-No cubicles, only desks that took a while to get used to the distractions around you
-since many employees have been with the company for a long time, their work practices may be outdated and creativity/drive is nonexistent
-Some 'candidates' apparently got in through their 'family ties or relationship' with existing employees
    -not as innovative

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your staff and your staff will take care of your team

I have been working at Kingston Technology

    Pros

David and John are a good team. David is a no-nonsense team leader that has good intuition when it comes to business decisions, and John is eloquent and fun loving. Together they help keep Kingston heading in the right direction and enjoyable to work at.

    Cons

Exceptional achievements and personal sacrifices for the company are sometimes seen as the status quo for some employees. This has a serious effect on company morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would help morale to recognize excellent employees.
