I worked at Kintetsu World Express (U.S.A.) full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good managers, opportunities for international travel, allows for freedom of schedule, sales executives are treated well in terms of respect and HR. Focused on close customer service. If you can perform well in terms of business development you could have a secure career here into the foreseeable future. The company is very loyal to quality employees for the most part. This company is a few steps away from being a true global power in the industry. However, those steps would require significant financial investment.

    Cons

Some key Management remains too "Japan" focused. Understanding this is the core business model, but some shift towards growing non-Japanese focused business and also growing the sea freight department and customer IT systems would help propel the company into the 21st Century.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Foundations of the company are strong because its axis is Asia, but need to begin transforming more to a complete global logistics company in terms of regions of the world, sea freight, contract logistics, and update the customer visibility systems is a BIG need. Adding Road Freight would also be a big plus in developing a local foundation in the USA to compete with CHR and EI.

    Great healthcare and 401k program

    Cons

I worked at Kintetsu World Express (U.S.A.) as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Very competitive with a lot people staying late. A typical Japanese company. Not sure if this is pros or cons.

A lot of old people. Also not very emphasize on education as they don't care at what degree you hold.

I worked at Kintetsu World Express (U.S.A.) full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Will not fire you what so ever.

    Cons

Import staff are a bunch of gossiping women creating a "high school" environment. The delt consists of 2 supervisors and 2 managers, no other staff other then temps. Staff gossips about you. Whine your back and are more focused on the latest gossip then work. Turnover is high. The woman who tracks and traces is extremely hostile and difficult to work with. One of the supervisors is lazy and pawns her work on to others in the dept and calls in sick often. Don't waste your time here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look into your middle management. Hire some more people, a dept doesn't have to be all supervisors and managers. Kintestsu is the worst place I have ever worked at and that includes telemarketing, which is why I quit with zero notice.

    Pros

    - Flexible with work schedule
    - Great a work life balance
    - Wonderful people to work with

    - Once you're in, it's difficult to be fired

    Cons

    - Little advancement unless you're Japanese
    - No recognition for academic achievements
    - "Deadweight" personnel that Kintetsu refuses to release because of fear of a lawsuit

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to employees; work with personnel to help them develop professionally within Kintetsu; lose the Japanese culture that keeps anyone that isn't Japanese from advancing
