    Pros

You're inside, out of the elements of rain, heat, cold or inclement weather.

    Cons

You're only working 12-20 hours (unless you're management) without benefits of any kinds.

From my experience with this company, the employment process is SLOW at best.

I started this process 5 weeks. My first interview was the following week. An open position for a 3rd manager at 20 hours a week. Not a position which a degree in rocket science. Never heard back after the interview.

A few weeks later I receive a call from another store and I again interview for a back room stock handler at 12-15 hours per week. I'm told that males RARELY apply for a job with this company. I explain I'm retired (51 years old btw) and looking for something to do outside the house. I've done manual labor since I was 12. Again I thought it was a good interview but never hear back. I waited 2 weeks and called the female manager back. She himhaws around and finally says she's not sure I'm a good fit for unloading boxes from a truck and shelving them. Really? You have a store full of ladies who I'm sure aren't thrilled about lifting 450 heavy, bulky boxes per week.

    Advice to Management

One of the first questions asked in an interview is why do you want to be a part of team Kirklands. A company that discriminates against hiring veterans and males for 12 hour a week jobs.

    Pros

Great place to get some management experience. I learned a lot about merchandising, managing people and operations. Easy to advance if you work hard and take initiative.

    Cons

Payroll budget doesn't allow for extra shipments or an extra hand during busy hours. Too much expected from only two full time managers.

    Pros

Discount, worked at high volume store so I had lots of access to items

    Cons

employee discount only applies to in-store purchases, management is inconsiderate, staff is overworked, pressure to maintain KClub percentage, rude management, too lenient on people who didnt show up for work

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge hard workers, don't assign unrealistic goals, have a better attitude, dont put customers over employees

    Pros

Good hours for seasonal and Part Time
Friendly Staff and honest Supervisors and Managers
    Great Products for home decor
    Easy to Understand

    Cons

Not much chance for advancement if you're seasonal. This is was a let down because of the fact that I was looking forward to stay on the team.

    Not the best

    I worked at Kirkland's

    Pros

Somewhat of a decent discount, friendly co-workers and good customer base. Works with schedule easily. Laid back job for those of whom like it.

    Cons

Very slow and boring. You don't get many hours when on seasonal hiring and if you aren't the managers favorite, then they make it known. You are pressured to make a percentage over 70% of K-club attachments eventhough more times than not customers aren't interested. You get paid the bare minimum and it's an overall waste of time. Not on the top of my list for recommended jobs.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites and actually pay attention to your employees and the hard work theyre putting in.

    Pros

The in house team members are good.

    Cons

Been with the company over 5 years.. The district managers instruct the store managers to only give all employees 10 hours or less.. So they are not obligated to offer insure or vacation pay., They update the employee handbook yearly and make you sign it so you cannot sue them for any reason. The pay (for mgrs also) a just a hair above minimum wage no matter how long you've been there.. The yearly raise no matter your performance is .02 cents per hour. The company is entirely too top heavy and could care less for the employees that are actually on the store making them their bonuses! You cannot live off of this job, so if you are a high school kid looking for movie money then it's perfect for you!

    Advice to Management

Stop neglecting your hard working staff thank goodness I was offered a much better job by a customer and finally parted ways
