    Pros

Easy, good for first job, okay hours, not much to do, if you like talking to customers then you'll love it

    Cons

Boring, they always want you to up-sell their plans and credit cards and nobody wants to hear that every time they shop.

    Advice to Management

Give your cashiers more things to do

    Pros

Flexible schedule, close to home, on going education on store policy and procedures, clean environment, convenience, able to keep in touch with the local community.

    Cons

The equipment that we are using to help customers with is old and out of sync. For example, when the Pin Pad displays "Please swipe your card", the swipe will get canceled by the donation transaction.

    Advice to Management

Management could be better equipped for efficient, courteous, rewarding experiences for the customer with updated equipment. Also, many items have come up for manager approval that are without the correct price.

    Pros

    - The employees are easy to get along with & willing to answer any questions.
    - Not difficult to learn what you need to know.
    - Understanding about my schedule since I am a student & they do not go against my availability.
    - Typically a calm work environment.
    - Low stress.
    - Quickly learn what to expect and is not overwhelming.

    Cons

    - Not too many hours, but this is good if you want part time. They only seem to hire for part time.
    - Disorganized management.
    - Minimum wage & no raises. Pay barely increases if you move up.
    - Often only one cashier working at a time.
    - A lot of requests for price checks since signs mislead customers & prices aren't always updated.
    - Not enough time to complete online training.

    Advice to Management

The KMart I work at is known for its long lines and customers often complain about lack of staff. There are employees yearning for more hours and would probably have better attitudes if they were given more.

    Pros

Discount is nice. Most of the people that I work with at my store are awesome. I like seeing the regular customers.

    Cons

Stuck at minimum wage and there has been a wage freeze for several years. Could be scheduled more hours. Not much recognition.

    Advice to Management

Small bits of recognition can go a long way with employees to feel appreciated.

I have been working at Kmart

    Pros

A lot of time off and the employees really love working with me. I wouldnt work anywhere else although i am kind of debating it.

    Cons

Some times i have to work very long hours which is quite annoying for someone who has three kids and wants to be able to have time to do other things.

    Advice to Management

Do what you want to do. At the end of the day its your company and its up to you to try to figure out what is going on and how to best figure out the issues.

    Pros

good as a first time job for teenagers. a lot of good learning opprotunities for growth.

    Cons

Stressful retail environment. some management staff have bad people skills. Pay is extremely low.

    Advice to Management

show your employees that they actually matter and maybe more people will actually work hard. minimum wage for a difficult job isn't enough. The job is stressful enough without being demeaned all the time.
