    I worked at Kmart

    Pros

Great people , great tools to do the job

    Cons

Work on days off, some store visits are anonymous, expectations are set beyond achievable. Bonus goals are set so high that are not met. Not enough training.

    Pros

    It's a paying job.
    Routine is nice.
    Good work-life balance.

    Cons

    Minimum wage
Some people tend to not "respect" the work you do in society, despite ALL jobs having value to society.

  3. Good place to work everyone gets along like family. However manager seems to pick and choose.

I have been working at Kmart part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

location and friendly coworkers for the most part

    Cons

Minimum wage. Short shifts 4-5 hour days. The company wants cashier's arrows to be green at 75% for reward customers - which is almost not possible. It gets annoying asking customers every time if they'd like to sign up for the rewards. Plus alot of the customers are mexicans and can't speak english.

I have been working at Kmart part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

In my opinion, it's a relatively easy job. Depending on location, slow business and not typically that many customers. Great experience, especially for a first job.

    Cons

Very outdated and slow registers. Shop Your Way reward points have many issues and when a customer has to call to resolve those issues, SYW does very little to help them.
Being just 16 working with mostly adults, it's easy to feel disrespected and belittled no matter how nice and friendly you are with your coworkers.
Very sexist with the jobs they assign.
Working as a cashier and having to do online training before it's due date – very frustrating, you can only do it while on the clock but customers always go in and out of your line making the training almost impossible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Online training should be allowed to be completed off the clock, especially for cashiers.

I worked at Kmart part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

LOVED the managers at this location because they work with you and do what they can when you need it the most.

    Cons

With it being retail and a failing company, hours were hard to get and the most I ever worked was 4 days a week but that was only because of the holiday.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get updated registers and make it to where you can price match with your online website AND other competing companies. And having a locked dressing room would cut down on loss prevention.

  10. Good start if you don't have customers service or sales or retail experience but alot more negatives than positives.

    I worked at Kmart

    Pros

You learn how to be a efficient worker, get basic sales experience. They also give you one hour lunches if your scheduled for 9 hours or more.

    Cons

Expectaions can be flat out ridiculous, management can be often times harsh when its not necessary and very inconsiderate. Also the managers often don't acknowledge you when your doing job competently but they do come down on you hard when you make even little mistakes. Although they did eventually honor my part time schedule the hours can be at times very long and exhausting. All in all for the pay rate you make(which isn't good at all near or below minimum wage)for the greif you have to put up with, lack of acknowledgment raises promotions even when deserving i would not reccomend working for this company unless you have zero experience or otherwise struggling to find a job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Acknowledge that accountability is a two way street give more rewards/perks to thoss who are preforming their jobs competently. Also take better care of customers to many times we had issues with customers at the front because of bin label errors or the fact we didn't price match. Also better train your associates and have more reasonable expectations.
