    Pros

Wonderful company to work for. Enjoyed my three years with them and was very upset when our store was forced to close. I thought I would retire there !
The last year of employment wouldn't go back as far as I needed. I worked the Monroe, NY KMART for three years. I stayed until they closed the doors for the last time in 2003. I will always remember my years at KMART

    Cons

I don't have anything negative to say

    Advice to Management

    None

    Pros

The woman in HR really worked with me and allowed me to be there as much as possible.

    Cons

Management was just... unprofessional and a very sad place to work. I brought up complaints to management and they said things would change but they obviously never did. The pay is horrible, as well.

    Pros

They are fairly flexible with scheduling, and since the store is never busy there's a lot of down-time for people who like slower work environments.

    Cons

Pay is crap for any position.
Management expects you to constantly be doing at least two people's jobs.
They will pass more qualified people over for promotions.
Managers expect credit card sign ups that take at least ten minutes and perpetually only have one or two or sometimes no other registers open to cover for you.

    Advice to Management

    Value your employees.

    Pros

Management is close, good training for "resume building".

    Cons

Top heavy company: too many chiefs, not enough indians; no company wide raises given out in over 7 years; dozens of emails from 10 different people in Corporate asking for the completion of 'X' task by EOD, oh and send up a picture of said task so we can ensure it got done... There's far to many other "cons" to list...

    Advice to Management

Stop the micro managing. That's it.

    Pros

If you're someone with no job experience or a student, this job is great to start off.
In my experience, the people who worked with me were nice.

    Cons

Due to kmart's continuous decline, there was absolutely no room for raises. The people may be nice but you certainly don't feel like you're valuable to the company when you're not rewarded for your efforts.
Like all customer service and sales jobs, you'll have to be good with people. This is a dealbreaker for some.

    Advice to Management

Not sure if there's anything i can really advise management to change. i got the impression that the managers were doing the best they could with what they had. Although that usually means they have to squeeze as much out of their employees before they realize there's better jobs out there.

    Pros

Fellow employees are good to work with. Pay is alright but not great. Fast paced work environment.easy to learn new job roles.

    Cons

Management is rude and disrespectful to all employees. They try to keep you past your work hours after they make you clock out. Wouldn't work with my school hours.worked multiple positions without extra pay.

    Pros

The best part of working for Kmart is the coworkers. Actually that is the only enjoyable thing.

    Cons

The computer systems are old and outdated, sales often don't ring up correctly causing issues with customers, the "reward card" is almost useless, half the time the points don't apply or accrue correctly.

    Pros

The job is not difficult. The customers can be very nice. Most of my coworkers are great. The shifts go by fast when it is busy.

    Cons

Everyone makes minimum wage with no performance or yearly raises. Management is inconsistent. Some customers are difficult.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice to be treated as an adult and not talked down to and made to feel stupid.
