    Pros

very little red tape. Get your ideas across and implement them. Easy to get recognition but it doesn't go far.

    Cons

Small / mid size firm makes it hard to move up as there is a very finite number of leadership positions.

    Advice to Management

Take the whole firm into consideration not just the current profit center.

    Pros

Cool people to work with, great on the job training, awesome group of interns to become friends with and also learn from, casual Fridays. You rotate throughout the trading floor and learn about the different divisions. Some group projects. Very good internship to prepare for a full-time job post college graduation.

    Cons

Some super egos on the floor but I think that happens just about everywhere

    Pros

Treats everyone fairly. Learned a lot. Management cares for all employees and treats everyone the same. Awesome work environment. Fun and helpful people.

    Cons

None, except that there wasn't a lot to do because the company wasn't doing too well at one point. (Don't worry KCG, just work hard!!)

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing!

    Pros

Good management structure, enjoyed working with my colleagues. Easy commute for NJ residents, as the office location is not in the city.

    Cons

Company got to a point where it was not doing very well at all. Therefore, I couldn't get hired back.

-Opportunity to learn about various aspects of the firm.
-Being around smart and ambitious people.

    Cons

-Tasks assigned to interns can be repetitive and boring.
-Upper management does not pay as much attention to the interns as I thought they should.

    Pros

Before the merger, it was a stable company. Work-life balance was great. The medium-size business atmosphere means you can really get to know you're co-workers, and there isn't as much bureaucratic tape as in larger firms.

    Cons

Now with the merger, who knows what will happen. The new management is starting to take the reins, so we'll see how it plays out.
Since it's a medium size business, upward mobility is limited. The new heirarchy structure being placed in by Getco is aimed at flattening that structure as well. Salaries and bonuses are being revisited.
Decisions by upper management sometimes make no sense. They will go through a layoff cycle in the summer, only to rehire 6 months later. Upper management has a tendency to take care of their own, but if you're near the bottom rungs of the ladder, then watch out.

    Advice to Management

Allow people to have more say in the business and development process. And provide opportunities and incentives for employees to excel, besides providing new flavors of coffee.

    Pros

Company is still heavily invested in technology and change is on the horizon with the upcoming merger with Getco. The company runs pretty lean in most areas to keep cost down and does leave room for future growth.

    Cons

A lot of uncertainty about the merger and overlap in responsibilities, which will lead to layoffs. Under current management most employees are treated like cattle, which rewards mediocrity.

    Advice to Management

Although the company is a financial company, management should try to keep up with the times and embrace more forward thinking styles of managing employees in a technology heavy era.
