If this is the only job you can get, would be your only reason for working here.

I worked at Knight Transportation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Very relaxed,
    Not very hard job.

    Cons

No paid time off till you've worked there a year,
You only get 5 days after that,
Other benefits are the bare minimum,
You are expected to put in 10 hour days minimum,
    No team moral,
If you have an idea of how to improve the company keep it to yourself. No one will listen to it.
    Tons of favoritism,
    The list could go on.

I worked at Knight Transportation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

If you want solid miles you can get them. Terminals are hit and miss but for the most part if you talk to the shop people you can get what you need to keep running. For me I could fuel where I wanted to.

    Cons

I had a mediocre driver manager who didn't have any listening skills. Good thing I like to stay out for months on end because this guy couldn't get me home.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I had a couple of "unpreventable" incidents that were not severe in any way (Safety calls them accidents). They're willing to drop a highly productive driver with a clean driving record. There seems to be a division of people who do the job and the practicalness of the upper mgmt. That is probably the standard protocol these days though.

I worked at Knight Transportation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Beginning salary was pretty good and fellow employees really nice.

    Cons

Management is horrible. No accountability, no real leadership. Not enough positive re-enforcement, just constantly told what you're doing wrong. Negative atmosphere, with a fend-for-yourself attitude. No proper training or support for new workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train new employees thoroughly and give them the support they need until they are performing well without guidance. Give more positive feedback instead of only highlighting the negatives. Understand that unrealistic expectations leads to low-morale and disappointment.

I worked at Knight Transportation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Seems like a friendly and accepting work environment at first.

    Cons

Religious choice drives hiring decisions. Hard-working employees and women are under a very low glass ceiling with no opportunity for advancement. Employees unsuccessful in a position are promoted within the company until they find a position they blend into rather than succeed at. Harrassment compaints of any type are not taken seriously - personal experience with sexual harrassment and manager (person at fault) was promoted after complaint was made.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to the quality employees and promote them accordingly. Stop allowing religious choice to choose the people to hire and/or promote. Pay more attention to employee needs and less time on how good your golf game is getting.

I have been working at Knight Transportation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Very good equipment and pay scale. Most terminals are clean and have 24 hour access for drivers. they also have a lot of drop and hook freight.

    Cons

They have very good equipment but the lack of support from driver managers is very frustrating. No consistent miles or hometime.

    I worked at Knight Transportation

    Pros

Great Company if it HIRED WOMEN Truck Drivers

    Cons

Pre Employment Physical Assessment is designed to disqualify women from being HIRED ! The doctor administering test even stated the weights required to be lifted by women is not practical and is not job function related !

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review your Physical Assessment Test ! So women can be a part of the Knight Team ! Review the fail statistics rate in your company for women regarding this test .
