    Pros

adequate insurance package, adequate work environment when the heating or air conditioning is actually working which is not guaranteed on any given day. Discount on service if you happen to live in one of the scattered service areas and don't mind the service interruptions.

    Cons

Incompetent management who are unresponsive and often abusive
Non existent training, employees are expected to figure out issues and new procedures from one or two page handouts passed around with no feedback or hands on instruction.
A Grading and promotion system geared toward rewarding those who do the least work .
No reasonable system for granting time off, schedules are deliberately set up to prevent employees from having two consecutive days off and getting a Holiday off is impossible., entire months of the year are blocked out as no vacation times for regular employees.
Substandard service provided by the Company results in extensive overwork for barely adequate compensation, many employees have to work 10 to 20 hours overtime to make a decent living with this company in an area where prices are generally low.
No understanding by management of the need for personal or sick time, if you have to take a medical leave you will eventually be terminated for one reason or another when you return.Sick days are held against employees even with a valid doctors excuse.

I worked for this company for 3+ years and its is the only place I have ever worked that I would never under any circumstances return too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management at this company is out of touch and it would help the company if that were to change
Hiring Managers who have some clue as to what their job is and how to effectively motivate and manage people should be common sense for any business that expects to survive.

Knology is a paycheck not a career

Current Employee - Technical Support Represntative in Martinez, GA

    Pros

One of the best things about Knology is the discount on services, though they are inferior to the same services in the area provided by other communication companies.

    Cons

There are no rotating holidays despite what management promises. There is little promotion from within the company, they prefer to hire for management and leadership outside the company. The pay is comparatively low when scaled against the same positions with other companies. Holidays are almost impossible to schedule off. The grading of performance and determining of raises in not well thought out

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start hiring from within. Morale takes a hit every time a position is filled by an outside person with no knowledge of company guidelines, needs, or policy. Some departments are completely overworked and required to an unbalanced load, yet they are not compensated properly and must seek overtime in order to make ends meet. Clue scores per department need to weigh on a different scale when considering positions moves. It is very easy to obtain high scores in some departments and as a result those departments always seem to grab promotions. Finally, pay is not in line for the city this company is located. A worker should not have to work 6+ days a week in order to survive in Augusta, GA

    Pros

Discount on Services if you live within a serviceable area. Decent insurance company. Occasional incentives for beating expectations

    Cons

Poor shift choices. Some upper management did not know how to run their positions. Impossible to get anytime off. Non qualified management (didn't meet requirements for even applying for the job). Constantly changing policies. Employer discriminates against employees, and management typically disrespected employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to hire individuals that know about what job they are intending to perform

    Pros

Community-oriented atmosphere (at least outside of corporate); good benefits; southeastern locations. Preety good leadership team in general. Quick promotion opportunities for some.

    Cons

Compensation can be on the lower side for most jobs. Some of the people are downright mean spirited and not friendly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Greater accountability for managers would make a huge difference as well as accountability for those who act counter to Knology's "value system."

    Pros

Got to learn and gain experience. Needed a job and they were hiring. But as soon as I learned what competitors pay employees I was out

    Cons

Moderate training, bad pay, very expensive health care like 300 a month! maybe lower now, 401K dont even remember if they had one. got a 12c raise my first year. Thats when I got the hell outa there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not much to say here. Management seems to stay a little bit longer but they leave when they find something better

    Pros

For the most part great people very friendly and helpful from the top down.
Although a business atmosphere, it is very casual and should be it is cable.

    Cons

low pay for the area, scheduling can be real bad

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow more flexibility with schedules, provide options like four 10 hour days, shift changes to allow others to have weekends and holidays off. flexibility as if you are stuck with a split days off it makes it very hard to even see your family let alone spend any quality time.

    Pros

The salary and the benifits are nice. The IT department is very friendly and helpful. There is great opportunity to learn

    Cons

It is located in a small town. Most of the people working within the company are not used to change or diversity.

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

The job is easy, and the people are easy to get along with. The company does try to keep up with "tools" to do the job, so they are proactive on moving forward as a company as a whole.

    Cons

Just having a job shouldn't be a motivating factor for coming to work. People should enjoy their job and want to come to work. If I'm going to spend most of my day there, I want to feel respected, wanted and needed. I don't like feeling like I'm a second class citizen or that my opinion doesn't matter. I want to know I'm taken seriously and seen as an asset and if not, then tell me so. Don't give a glowing review and then brush me to the side. I'm smart, hard-working, dedicated and want to learn more, so give people the opportunity to be more than just their job. See them for what they can bring to the table and not the cubicle you've shoved them into.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People respond best with praise and guidence. Work should be more than just a job, if someone is dedicating their time and part of their life to your company, then make the same investment to the person. Make people feel needed and not replaceable. Make people fight to work for your company. Your employees are dying to give you everything they have, but you have to give them the opportunity to show it. Stop undervaluing (both intellectually, performance and with pay) your people, they are far better than you know. Look at the people who have left to go to other companies. They were dedicated, loyal employees that just couldn't bear to take one more year of being low man on the totem pole. You look to the employees to give it everything they have, so why not show them that same respect in their paycheck, in their opportunities to grow, and by giving them the open sky so they can soar.
