Pros
Good Benefits, Flexible Schedule, Growing Company
Cons
Underpaid, While results are important they were over emphasized at the expense of employer/employee relationships.
Advice to Senior Management
While results are important they were over emphasized at the expense of employer/employee relationships. I often felt that expected results were unobtainable. When I would try to discuss arguments with management they seemed to be uninterested in unique issues I was witnessing at my location and more concerned with numbers. However, numbers cannot be obtained without first addressing the behind-the-scenes issues.
Pros
Flexibility of asking time off (I am a student)
Understanding if something comes up
Atmosphere that management provides, very upbeat
Cons
The lack of hours they give out
Push credit card applications and affects your hours even if you are told it doesn't
Advice to Senior Management
Allow more advancement with in the company like training programs, especially to those going to school to better their own lives.
Pros
Communication and accessibility to managers
Cons
Most employees do not get a lot of hours, compensation could be better, not much room for promotions.
Pros
Start off with good pay. Excellent benefit package. Management will work with your schedule.
Solid corporate company.
Cons
Fitting rooms can be a little tricky at times. There are no fitting room attendants.
Signing for the many sales events can get tedious.
Advice to Senior Management
Most management understand the practical dilemmas of the retail environment. But at times we multi-task ourselves to a point that becomes non affective..They have to remember how hard it is to juggle the work load and still have great results.
Pros
Employee Discount. Paid Vacation. The ability to go to school and continue working there. Good team work among other associates that you are working with.
Cons
Promotions seem to go to family members within the company or managers like to play "favorites." No room for advancement because after positions are full the likelihood of another opening is highly unlikely. You receive one raise a year and even after 3 years you are barely making minimum wage. They over hire, meaning everyone's hours get cut; especially if you aren't making minimum wage anymore. A lot of schedule mess ups if you try to change your availability. Lack of communication among managers.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to what your employees have to say to better improve their work experience. Allow employees more advancements through the company, and show leadership and pride in their employees. Better communication throughout the corporation, each store manager's, the leads of every dept., to the associates in every dept.
Pros
Awesome people and great employee discounts
Cons
Short amount of hours and the pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your staff better and give them hours and the pay they deserve!
Pros
Good work life balance with associates and management.
Cons
Managers are disrespectful to parttime associates.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate and support team more often.
Pros
Great learning experience and could be a good store if the management had better skills; Ability to provide Great Customer Service
Cons
Little or No Training - Expect Great Things but provide little to no training - Learn as you go; Be prepared to have to work alot with few employees to help out. Management - No people skills; Threatens employee who work hard; Credit Expectations are hard meeting and management gets stressed if they do not meet goals; Negative things said to employees in front of employees and customers - No Respect; If you don't go above and beyond then your hours are cut. Have to watch your back otherwise you will be fired.
Advice to Senior Management
Get some better management skills and people skills if you are going to be successful. Treat your employees like they are customers with a little Dignity and Respect and be thankful they are working hard to take care of the customers.
Pros
co-workers were great. fun atmosphere.
Cons
Store Manager is useless and doesn't care about ANY of the employees (except the young girls that dress in tight clothes, which he oogles all the time and lets staff know about who he thinks is "nice")
Advice to Senior Management
This only applies to the STORE MANAGER.....learn the work that is required of the associates and then you will learn to appreciate all the hard work that they actually DO. Also, instead of pointing out the negative in EVERYTHING, look for the positive.
Pros
Kohl's is an excellent place to work! I really love it! The pay could be better but it is average and the health insurance is way above average. They have a great culture and management really cares. They expect a lot from their employees but they really back you with resources and people.
Cons
They demand a lot for the money. They really are a great employer but the stress is relatively high for the pay. They also don't kick in paid time off until you have a year in and vacation takes two years in to earn a week. Very cheap on the pay / paid time off but good health insurance.
Advice to Senior Management
Raise your standards on paid time off and vacation. Very frustrating for full-time folks.
