Pros
Great flexibility with schedule, friendly coworkers, opportunity to grow if you are looking into management. They also will let you transfer around to other Kohl's which is great if you will be moving.
Cons
Pay is low at minimum wage to start and raises are not frequent. Hours vary drastically, one day you may work at 6am the next you may close at 11:30, which is common with retail.
Advice to Senior Management
Good communication and leadership, all of the managers are very understanding with real life circumstances. Over all good job and very satisfying to work with.
Pros
Employee Discount. Paid Vacation. The ability to go to school and continue working there. Good team work among other associates that you are working with.
Cons
Promotions seem to go to family members within the company or managers like to play "favorites." No room for advancement because after positions are full the likelihood of another opening is highly unlikely. You receive one raise a year and even after 3 years you are barely making minimum wage. They over hire, meaning everyone's hours get cut; especially if you aren't making minimum wage anymore. A lot of schedule mess ups if you try to change your availability. Lack of communication among managers.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to what your employees have to say to better improve their work experience. Allow employees more advancements through the company, and show leadership and pride in their employees. Better communication throughout the corporation, each store manager's, the leads of every dept., to the associates in every dept.
Pros
benefits and yearly raises and nice coworkers
Cons
costumer is ALWAYS RIGHT
everyone out for themselves
Advice to Senior Management
have faith in associates
Pros
specialized in one area and thats all you do
Cons

Advice to Senior Management
keep it up
Pros
Small discount on merchandise
Clean atmosphere
Work is indoors, Heat and Air Conditioning
Good retail experience, along with learning how to talk to people
Cons
Poor 'incentive' to get kohl's credit cards
Employee 'incentive' system was very unfair for a majority of employees. Employees that management thought had the most credit card getting potential benefited and not necessarily the hardest workers)
Store would not admit to it but hours are based on how many credit cards you successfully solicit on a weekly basis.
Over-praised if you get credit cards (sort of how you would treat a 4 year old if they did something right)
Constantly hear about complaints from supervisors (made by customers) and not a single praise (unless it's credit card related)
Constantly badgered about 'getting credits and e-mails
Supervisors played favorites
No clear communication between supervisors, one would tell you to do something and you would be reprimanded by another for following orders.
Supervisors are 'write-up happy', Was written up for saying the word 'underwear'.
Supervisors would make excuses for why you cannot get more hours, It didn't matter if you begged on your hands or knees or had any kind of sob story it all depended on the credit cards.
Have been yelled at by supervisors in front of customers
Breaks were unscheduled and they would usually want me to take my sometimes only break about 30 minutes into work
Store sound track repeats every 30-40 minutes
Will not give a recommendation if a future employer calls, they try to make the employer pay for a recommendation. I have lost a few job opportunities because they would not give a reccomendation.
Advice to Senior Management
I will never work at a Kohl's again after my 1 year experience. The communication between employees was terrible, and everyone was more than happy to 'knit pick' at every single fault you had, and when you were being praised for doing a good job, it almost made me feel worse because of the way that they would phrase and their tone, as I said earlier, it was like I was a 4 year old who just tried to wash the car or clean my room.
The credit card / working hours situation was so unbelievable that it should be illegal because it discriminated against good employees. Just because they couldn't sell 100 credit cards does not mean they don't deserve hours. We were also never told that we were working under a "hybrid commission" system. We were simply told that the store was new and they were still trying to get a handle on assigning hours.
Pros
Discounts and close to home
Cons
They have gone past tightening the belt, and are eating away at the muscle. They push you to be available 7 days a week, 18 hours a day, but when the schedules come out many part-timers are often only getting around 10 hours, often less. They want to pay poverty wages, yet have you devote your life to them.
Advice to Senior Management
A past manager would go to the bar and get drunk with associates and spent a lot of time hanging outside with the smokers. That was unprofessional. Current manager is 100% Kohl's business. A "I'm sorry to hear about your husband dying" or "congratulation on your new baby" might be nice. Giving zero indication that there is any care or concern as a person is also unprofessional. Rules are fine, but how about management operates under the same rules. Associates are reprimanded for putting out a flier for kids fund raisers, yet district level person can bring in "artwork" made by significant other and set up shop to sell the wares in the business office.
Pros
The customers, the discounts, and the clothes. What else could you ask for? This store has a great selection for customers to choose from such as Daisy Fuentes and excellent home decor options. The associates are always friendly and helpful and the prices are great. There is no better reason to work for the company. The hours are based on performance selling credit cards, so the more you sell the more hours you get. Did I mention the discounts? The clothes are so great and with those discounts you can buy so many clothes. I really enjoyed my time and would work there again.
Cons
The long hours standing infront of the register, the pay. The minimum pay could be base with commission. The amount of customers that are recieved is large and the commission would be amazing. On top of that, selling the credit cards should give even more commission benefits to the employees. The breaks could be more frequent. Standing for four hours straight on those hard floors is not pleasant, so being able to switch from register to floor time would be a great benefit. Sometimes management was no as helpful as I would have liked, for example, a customer is complaining and I call, it shouldn't take 10 minutes to answer. Other than that it is great!
Advice to Senior Management
Offer more input to associates
Pros
Kohl's is very family oriented with policies written to make sure that there is no abuse. Compared to other retailers Kohl's works to make a work life balance that actually leans on the side of the employees and management. Kohl's has a great training program that help's develop not only managers, but all employees.
Cons
As with any retailer, holidays are always a tough time to work. More hours and days. Promotions are sometimes too political, but that happens with all companies, especially as they grow. Too many management people hired from out side the company, there is so much talent and knowledge in the current stores that we could do more to help our employees grow.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep us on the right track.
Pros
Pay and benefits for management are very generous. Time off is very easy to work out with management.
Cons
Kohls changing things daily. Just when you have something completed here is an undate, or and E-mail because something was left out or direction was wrong. It is very frustrationg the amount of time wasted at Kohl's doing things over and over again.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure direction is clear and all of the issues are resolved BEFORE having the stores implement it!!!
