Cons

Slow pace due to multiple levels of management
Advice to Senior Management
Rate people on your work, not friendship
Pros
Kohler is a focused company with a strong sense of identity. Their leadership is engaged and down to earth, perfect when trying to understand rapid changing environment.
Cons
It's a big ship and it takes time to turn. Navigating your way through the organization can be challenging and in order to make things happen it is necessary.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue taking feedback from employees and work on applying it to the organization.
Pros
- Intelligent People
- Great support system
- Well recognized brand which people are proud to be a part of.
- Well compensated
- Fun atmosphere with inter departmental competition
Cons
- If you lead the large ship, it takes time to moves so you must be patient when developing new products.
- No training, only the fittest survive. Learn on your own type training.
- ACT (Authorized Corporate Transaction) required for every decision.
- Decisions can take while, and it all starts with at the interview process. 3 months waiting for an answer due to the ACT process.
Pros
The atmosphere and the people are great to work with. There are opportunities to work on projects to help the community or other social issues.
Cons
Some times it can take a while to get your idea off the ground. The company is very consensus driven and it might take a while to build enough momentum to get action.
Advice to Senior Management
I know know times are tough in the building industry, but the ranks are getting pretty thin and its tougher to get our work done.
Pros
in general staff is ok, hard working in spite not thanks to current management. Given some leadership potential of a great team.
Cons
Too much favourtism, lack of leadership, working on basically flawed strategic plans, heard people rather than leading them. Can not find and if they do or retain good people
Advice to Senior Management
learn to give direction, give attainable goals to people. Trust is a two way street, staff does not trust its managers, finance management simple is rubbish. Give up on the idea to establish an SSC! You do not have the leadership, multiculturalism required.
Pros
Decent pay, good benefits, global locations
Cons
lack of proper training, no encouragement, inconsistency, too many clicks within upper management
Pros
If you worked hard you were recognized and you could advance. Opportunities for professional and personal growth were there to for the asking.
Cons
There was just a little bit of the good-old-boy network when I was there but it's gone now according to my daughter who worked there too.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't change a thing. Mr. Kohler continue to keep close to your people and involved. Thank you for my 19 years! I liked the old motto, “He who hath toiled here has left his mark”. Many did in a positive way.
Pros
The Corporate culture and the great benifits
Cons
Room for advancement and lack of guidance on how one can advance.
Advice to Senior Management
Help your people see their future in the workplace. Give them a path to follow and reward them for improvement.
Pros
Stability, excellent reputation, excellent pay
Cons
None that I can say are outstanding. No company is perfect so complaining about how the upper management runs the company is nonproductive, especially when a company is as stable and successful as Kohler is.
Advice to Senior Management
None that would make a difference. The company is fabulously successful with out my input. My advice would be appreciated but not really affect the trajectory of the company.
Pros
* Great products
* Great people
* Good flexibility and work/life balance
* Great marketer
* Lots of opportunities to learn and grow within your job competencies
Cons
* Poor pay
* Too much bureacracy
* Too much indecision at the top level
* Too hierarchical - opinion of middle management and below does not seem to count
Advice to Senior Management
Streamline and simplify the bureacracy. People are dying because they cannot get things done, yet are pushed hard for results. Make decisions and stick with them. Constant change in direction leaves everyone stressed and unsure of where the company and own careers are headed.
