    May be changes...change in management

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsBecause Koniag is a Native Alaskan owned company, they are able to obtain government contracts. The people were nice to work with and longevity was rewarded. A friendly working atmosphere and teamwork were encouraged through occasional lunches either with pot luck or company paid.

ConsI worked at a subsidiary of this company whose CEO refused to listen to the people who had expertise and cut corners that cost sales. The actual headquarters may be much better to work for and took over management after I left. Feedback was encouraged but ignored. We spent many hours working on projects just to have management take a direction ignoring the work they requested. There were a lot of office politics going on due to long term relationships between management and employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees and check on complaints to ensure they are not motivated by politics. Even though they are now directly managed by Koniag, an excellent, conscientious coworker of mine was recently let go due to politics.

    It's a job, not a career

CICS Systems Programmer (Former Employee) Baltimore, MD

ProsExcellent benefits (health insurance, 401k), flexible hours

ConsIf you're looking for career growth and learn stuff that looks good on a resume, this is not the company for you. Your skill set will stagnate as you attempt to navigate the maze of bureaucracy
    at their government contract sites.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo something about the "disconnect", Take the time to know what your employees are doing.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Senior Management needs to understand middle management more.

Software Engineering Manager (Former Employee) Alexandria, VA

ProsGreat benefits with 8% 401K matching and vested 100% immediately. Promotes training and education with up to $5000/year reimbursement.

ConsSome Program Managers and leadership are unaware of lower managements capabilities.

Advice to Senior ManagementInteract more with employees with Q&A vs. putting too much trust and power within the Program Manager.
